The Lumias T08 is priced at just around $100, yet it offers the dual functions of a bladeless fan and an air purifier, along with remote control and several other useful features. Given all these capabilities from an increasingly recognized brand like Lumias, I believe this fan is a solid option to consider, especially for households with young children.

1. Design

The Lumias T08 has a familiar design, consistent with other bladeless fans in this price range. Some might point out that technically it still has blades hidden inside, but since the concept has become widely accepted as "bladeless," we’ll stick to calling it that. The key advantage here is the safety aspect—no exposed blades mean there’s no risk of children sticking their fingers inside like with traditional fans.

Standing just over 1.1 meters tall and weighing 5.2 kg, the fan is lightweight and easy to move around the house. It features a matte white finish, which is easy to clean but can scratch a little easily. Still, the overall design feels sleek and modern, fitting well into any room despite its modest price point.

2. Touch Control and Remote

First, let’s talk about the control panel. The Lumias T08 has a crescent-shaped control interface, with air vents that are narrow and evenly spaced.

You can use the touch buttons on the control panel to power the fan on or off, adjust the wind speed, switch modes, and control the oscillation. Additionally, you can control the fan via the infrared remote, which offers some fun extra features like adjusting the lighting, enabling a child lock, and activating negative ion mode.

3. Performance: Airflow and Filtration

In terms of airflow, the fan provides 3 modes and 12 wind speeds, with a maximum power consumption of 33W. The modes include quiet sleep wind, natural wind, and custom wind frequency. The quiet sleep mode operates softly, making it suitable for nighttime use, though I recommend pairing it with an air conditioner to ensure proper air circulation and cooling. The natural wind mode mimics the flow of outdoor breezes, with varying speeds, while the custom mode allows you to adjust the wind frequency to your preference.

The bladeless design disperses air more evenly compared to traditional fans. Even at the highest setting (speed 12), the airflow feels gentle and doesn’t create the discomfort of a direct, forceful breeze.

Noise is often a concern with bladeless fans, but the Lumias T08 is relatively quiet. The manufacturer claims a noise level of 12.9dB in silent mode, which is nearly imperceptible and best used in conjunction with an air conditioner. For daily use at moderate speeds (around level 5), I noticed a noise level averaging around 40dB—comparable to normal conversation, and not disruptive. Even at the highest setting, the noise only reached about 59-62dB, which is not unpleasant. Keep in mind that the fan noise reduces further when you’re seated a meter or more away.

As for air purification, the Lumias T08 is equipped with dual 5-layer AEC filters on either side. These filters are designed to capture fine dust, pollen, odors, pet dander, and bacteria, helping to improve indoor air quality. However, while the fan does offer some filtration, if you live in a heavily polluted environment, it’s still advisable to invest in a dedicated air purifier.

For a multifunctional product at the $100 price point, I won’t be overly critical or expect too much. In addition to its primary functions as a fan and air purifier, the Lumias T08 also offers useful features like a child lock, auto shut-off when tilted at a 45-degree angle, and negative ion generation.

The child lock prevents curious little hands from tampering with the fan controls, while the auto shut-off provides extra peace of mind in case the fan is knocked over. I couldn't measure the exact amount of negative ions produced, but compared to some questionable parenting products like electromagnetic shield stickers, the Lumias T08 seems like a much more practical and reliable choice. It’s both a safe bladeless fan and an air purifier, which makes it a good fit for homes with young children.
