Friendship or Love?
First Facebook Friend
In the quiet hallways of my memory, I recall the girl I once was- shy, introverted, and lost. Transformation, however, is the silent power of time; it reshaped me into an outgoing, extrovert, and independent woman.
I wonder, what if the moments we label as the culmination of our journeys are just the beginning?
This is a piece of a true story from my life that I am about to share. And so, it begins- an odyssey of unfinished tales and uncharted territories.
I was in the 10th grade when I first joined "Facebook". He was my first male friend to be honest. We were on each other's friend list for a few days without having any conversations. Those were the days when we didn't have smartphones. So we used to go to an Internet cafe once a week just to scroll through Facebook.
And then suddenly one day I received a "Hello" text from him. It was when we started chatting. In the blink of an eye, we became close friends and exchanged our telephone numbers. He was a university student from another city.
Our never-ending talks, chats, and frequent visits to the Internet cafe increased day by day. He was a good singer and a guitarist. I used to listen to his songs over calls.
A few months passed and I started liking him. His gestures were directed towards the same. He used to talk about our future together. I was just an innocent schoolgirl who thought he might have the same feelings for me.
One day while we were talking I suddenly expressed my feelings for him. He laughed and said, "Listen, it was all just a time pass don't take it seriously. I do not want any romantic relationship with you. You're just a kid."
My heart broke into pieces. I was so hurt, that I blocked him. Should I call it a betrayal in Friendship or Love? Both were my first.
To be continued...
