Eight Years After Katty Ran Away from Home, She Tells Her Story.

Katty Ran Away From Home At The Age Of 12, She Returned Back To Tell Her Story

By TOBECHI OGADINMAPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Katty Lee came back to her hometown after being away for eight years. It's hard to say exactly how she left because there are different emotions and actions involved. However, Katty chose to take her mind off those thoughts by turning her car radio up and enjoying the music. She got good at not thinking about the past after she left, so when she saw her father's silver silos, it made her cry. Eight years ago, only one tall container had an American flag on it, but now there were three, showing the flag proudly. Her dad was right about the farm doing good. Silos cost a lot of money. When a farmer finished paying for one, they would put a flag or a picture on it to show it belonged to them. Katty quietly said she was proud of her father as the song "Another One Bites the Dust" played in her rental Miata sports car, which was the same type of car her father had.

Katty went back to Savannah by driving. The words of the song made her laugh a lot, even though her father was in the hospital with an unknown sickness. She changed the radio channel but still heard country music. She kept walking towards the farmhouse and other buildings that could be seen from far away. Illinois is a very flat place with no hills or valleys. Katty prayed for her dad to be healthy, even though she hadn't talked to God in a while. She parked next to a few pickup trucks, showing that her brothers were there. Katty tried to make the Dalmatians go away from the porch, but her brothers thought it was funny to watch her. The dogs still remembered her, even after so many years had passed. Her brothers and the dogs were similar because they were not very helpful. Now she returned. How long will she stay. Ellen felt calm and content as she sorted socks, a routine she was used to. She had been doing it for more than 30 years. Sometimes she thought the ups and downs of her life could be seen in the type and number of socks in the laundry basket. She started by knitting men's socks, then moved on to knitting small baby socks. The small baby socks got bigger over time and turned into adult-sized socks, except for the ones that belonged to a little girl. These stayed small and eventually fit a small woman.

Ellen shut her eyes. She really missed those small pink things. She missed taking care of babies and young children, she missed having busy days and people who relied on her.Her kids were grown and her husband, who even before his heart attack, seemed to have forgotten about her. Her life didn't turn out the way she wanted, even though she had planned for it to be just right. The door made a squeaky sound as it closed behind her. "Mom"lEen knew which son was standing without having to open her eyes. Aaron, her oldest and responsible child, would be the one to walk upstairs and make her come down because he is serious and quiet.

"She is here. "

"I understand"

"She wanted to talk to you. "

"Did"

Ellen closed her mouth tightly, feeling frustrated by the optimism in her tone. Why did she still want the love of a child who couldn't give it to her. Aaron moved his large feet and coughed to be ready. She looked at him and knew the truth from his expression. "She did not. "He raised his shoulders and dropped them. Aaron is the oldest of five boys, but he is still not very short. However, because of their father who was tall and strong and their mother who was tough, all the boys grew up to be big and tough men. She didn't know how Katty became small, unless her parents had already had many children before her.

"Katty wants to see her dad. "Ellen was happy and showed it with a smile on her face. The boys always called their little sister "katty my. " She didn't like the nickname, so they kept calling her by it.Twenty-six years ago, John didn't want another baby and wasn't excited about having a girl. But he ended up forming a closer bond with Katty than with any of his other children.
