Chapter 1: An Unexpected Meeting

Ji-hyun was a rising interior designer. At 27, she had already established her own design studio in Gangnam, one of Seoul’s most prestigious districts. She was an independent and passionate woman, yet there was always something missing in her heart. One day, while driving home after meeting a client, she got into a minor accident on the road. Her car collided with a motorcycle ridden by Seung-ho, a handsome man with a mysterious aura.

Seung-ho, who worked as a mechanic, suffered a minor injury, and Ji-hyun felt guilty. She offered to take him to the hospital, but Seung-ho refused with a warm smile that made Ji-hyun’s heart flutter. They ended up having coffee at a nearby café. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, as if they had known each other for a long time. Unconsciously, Ji-hyun felt a special connection between them.

Chapter 2: Love That Grows Amidst Pain

As time passed, Ji-hyun and Seung-ho grew closer. They often met on weekends, exploring the corners of Seoul, sharing stories, and laughing together. Seung-ho was a man full of surprises. He showed his gentle side when he was with Ji-hyun, but there was a darkness hidden in his eyes, something Ji-hyun couldn’t understand.

They eventually fell in love, but Seung-ho always kept a distance. He never allowed Ji-hyun to get too close to his real life. One night, as they sat by the Han River, Seung-ho revealed that he had a dark past. He had once been involved in a street gang and had spent several years in prison. Ji-hyun was shocked, but she didn’t care. Her love for Seung-ho was so strong that she was willing to accept anything.

However, Seung-ho felt guilty. He didn’t want Ji-hyun to get caught up in his dangerous life. Even though his heart deeply loved Ji-hyun, he decided to distance himself from her, hoping it was for the best.

Chapter 3: A Painful Goodbye

Seung-ho began to pull away without any clear reason. Ji-hyun was confused and hurt, not understanding why Seung-ho suddenly changed. Every time she tried to talk to him, Seung-ho always found an excuse to avoid her. She spent her nights waiting for a call or a message that never came.

Finally, Ji-hyun mustered the courage to confront Seung-ho at the garage where he worked. There, she found Seung-ho talking to a suspicious-looking man. Ji-hyun accidentally overheard their conversation and realized that Seung-ho was still involved with his old gang. The man threatened to harm Ji-hyun if Seung-ho didn’t comply with his demands.

With a broken heart, Ji-hyun confronted Seung-ho. She demanded an explanation, but Seung-ho could only ask her to leave. “This is for your own good, Ji-hyun. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me,” he said with a trembling voice. Ji-hyun felt her world collapse. She loved Seung-ho, but she couldn’t accept the reality that she was living in constant danger.

Ji-hyun finally decided to end their relationship. With tears streaming down her face, she walked away, leaving Seung-ho standing still, feeling a deep pain in his heart.

Chapter 4: Loss and Regret

Time passed, but the wound in Ji-hyun’s heart never healed. She tried to move on, focusing on her work and distancing herself from the memories of Seung-ho. However, every corner of Seoul reminded her of him. Her heart felt empty, and she began to feel lost in her life.

Seung-ho felt the same. Without Ji-hyun, his life returned to the darkness it once was. He realized that he had lost the only person who made him feel alive. Seung-ho tried to make amends by leaving the dark world that had bound him for so long. He planned to start a new life and hoped to return to Ji-hyun someday.

However, life doesn’t always go as planned. Seung-ho was involved in a severe accident while trying to escape from the gang that was after him. He was badly injured and rushed to the hospital, but his condition was critical.

Chapter 5: The Final Sacrifice

Ji-hyun heard about Seung-ho’s accident from a friend. Without a second thought, she ran to the hospital, hoping to see Seung-ho one last time. When she arrived, Seung-ho was already in surgery. Time seemed to slow down as Ji-hyun waited outside, praying that Seung-ho would survive.

Finally, the doctor came out and told Ji-hyun that Seung-ho had survived the surgery, but his condition was very weak. He might not last long. Ji-hyun rushed into the recovery room and saw Seung-ho lying on the bed, his face pale and body covered in injuries.

With tears streaming down her face, Ji-hyun held Seung-ho’s hand. “I’m here, Seung-ho. I won’t leave you again,” she whispered. Seung-ho slowly opened his eyes, looking at Ji-hyun with a weak but loving gaze. “I’m sorry... for not being able to protect you,” he said in a barely audible voice.

Ji-hyun shook her head, trying to hold back her sobs. “There’s nothing you need to apologize for. I love you, Seung-ho. And I will always love you, no matter what.”

Seung-ho smiled faintly, then closed his eyes for the last time, leaving Ji-hyun with bittersweet memories of their unforgettable love.

Epilogue

A year passed since Seung-ho’s death. Ji-hyun continued with her life, but Seung-ho’s shadow always lingered in her heart. She learned to accept the reality and found peace in their memories. Ji-hyun realized that true love doesn’t always have a happy ending. Sometimes, love is about sacrifice, about letting someone go for their own good, even if it means facing deep pain.

In a small park by the Han River, Ji-hyun often sat on the bench where they once sat together. There, under the bright sky, she remembered Seung-ho, her true love, and vowed to keep him in her heart forever.
