I have a friend who has a story to share. It is about Christopher Hitchens. He is a great guy with unbelievable insight. The coffee is hot. He looks at the coffee and picks it up. The coffee stays in his mouth and smells it. He sips a coffee and the story goes on like this.

A little girl got up, she was very shy and awkward as the mic was held before her, and Mr. Hitchens gently reassured her and hushed those who tried to speak for her. But sometimes an adult should give someone a child a space to be encouraged to ask something. The little girl wanted to know what books he would recommend her to read for her education.

He looks at the little girl with a smile on his face. The questions she asked was not fit with the event. But Mr. Hitchens take this question seriously pondering how to answer for a quite while. Then he answered that this is very important question. He will give the answer if they want to wait after the event. He meet with the girl and her mother. This is the book that he would recommended.

And so he did. He talked with the mother and the little girl, sitting on a table to conserve his strength. He talked to her for about 15 minutes and left her with a list of authors and works suitable for an inquiring young mind to grow with over many years.

The Magic Reality

Greek and Roman Myths- especially those complied by Robert Graves

Shakespeare

Chaucer

Other satirical works (Montesquieu, Voltaire)

David Hume

Dickens- all, but especially A Tale of Two Cities

Ayaan Hirsi Ali- especially the beginning of infidel where she speaks about her childhood

P.G Wodehouse “just for a bit of fun” especially “Sunset at Blandings”

If you are young try to train your critical thinking as Hitchen. This book is a good start. Now, we all know Christopher Hitchens is not a perfect human but you can usually find some insightful information. There are a lot of people than Mr. Hitchen, such as Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Yuval Noah Harari.
