Chapter 11: The Chains of Possession
Twins Mirrored Souls

The soft glow of dawn filtered through the barred window of Seojin's secluded chamber, casting elongated shadows on the walls. The quiet was broken only by the distant chirping of birds, a reminder of the world outside—a world that felt painfully out of reach. Seojin sat on the edge of his bed, his heart heavy with a mix of determination and dread.
He glanced around the room, the ornate furnishings a stark contrast to his emotional turmoil. Jaeha’s touch was evident everywhere, a reminder of the power he wielded. Each piece of decor, from the intricate tapestries to the delicate porcelain, bore the mark of Jaeha’s obsessive love. Yet, amid the opulence, Seojin felt trapped, suffocated by the very love that was meant to protect him.
The memory of their last encounter lingered in his mind—the fierce intensity of Jaeha’s gaze, the promise in his words. Seojin understood the depth of Jaeha's feelings, but the boundaries they had crossed felt insurmountable. He longed for freedom, for the chance to forge his own path, but the very idea of leaving Jaeha behind sent shivers down his spine.
As if sensing his turmoil, Jaeha entered the room unannounced. His presence filled the space, an aura of dominance that Seojin had come to recognize all too well. “You’re awake early,” Jaeha remarked, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.
Seojin forced a smile, though it felt brittle on his lips. “I couldn’t sleep,” he admitted, hoping to deflect Jaeha’s scrutiny.
Jaeha stepped closer, his expression shifting from playful to serious in an instant. “Are you still thinking about what we discussed? About us?” His voice was low, laced with a possessive edge.
“I… I just need time,” Seojin replied, his heart racing. “I can’t wrap my head around everything right now.”
“Time?” Jaeha echoed, frustration creeping into his tone. “You don’t need time to understand that I love you, Seojin. We are meant to be together. You are mine, and I am yours. No one can change that.”
Seojin's heart ached at the truth of Jaeha's words, yet the weight of their reality loomed over him like a dark cloud. “But we can’t—”
“Enough!” Jaeha's voice rose, echoing off the walls. He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. “I won’t let you go. You’re safer here with me. You have to understand that.”
Seojin’s frustration boiled over. “But at what cost, Jaeha? You’re imprisoning me! I can’t live like this!”
Jaeha’s expression hardened, his protective instincts flaring. “You don’t understand the dangers that lurk outside these walls. I would rather keep you here, safe and sound, than risk losing you to those who would do you harm.”
Seojin's pulse quickened at the implication. “What do you think will happen if the council finds out? If they learn of our… connection?”
“They won’t find out,” Jaeha insisted, stepping closer until he was inches away from Seojin. “I will protect you, Seojin. You have my word. No one will come between us.”
His sincerity tugged at Seojin’s heart, yet doubt lingered like a shadow. “And what about your duties as king? Your responsibilities?”
“I don’t care about any of that,” Jaeha replied, his voice fierce. “All I care about is you.”
Seojin’s breath caught in his throat. Jaeha’s intensity was intoxicating, yet it left him feeling cornered, like a wild animal caught in a snare. He longed for freedom, but the idea of leaving Jaeha behind felt like a betrayal of everything they had shared.
“I can’t do this,” Seojin whispered, feeling tears prick at the corners of his eyes. “I can’t be your prisoner, Jaeha.”
Jaeha’s expression softened, and he reached out, brushing a stray hair from Seojin’s face. “You’re not a prisoner, Seojin. You’re my love. I’m doing this to protect you, to keep you safe.”
Seojin looked away, his heart torn between love and fear. “But it feels wrong. It feels like I’m losing myself.”
Jaeha’s hand fell to his side, and the pain in his eyes was palpable. “I don’t want to lose you. I will do anything to keep you by my side. Just promise me you’ll stay. Promise me you won’t try to escape.”
Seojin felt a wave of guilt wash over him. “Jaeha…”
“I need you,” Jaeha said, his voice breaking. “I need you to trust me.”
Seojin’s heart ached for Jaeha’s vulnerability, but the chains of possessiveness weighed heavily on him. “Trust goes both ways, Jaeha. You can’t keep me locked away like this and expect me to feel safe.”
Silence hung between them, a chasm of unspoken words and emotions. Seojin knew he had to find a way to escape, to reclaim his freedom, but the thought of leaving Jaeha behind was unbearable. The conflict churned within him, a tempest of desire and desperation.
“I’ll think about it,” Seojin finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Please, Seojin,” Jaeha pleaded, his eyes searching Seojin’s face for any hint of reassurance. “I can’t lose you. I won’t let you go.”
As Jaeha turned to leave, Seojin felt a pang of sorrow in his chest. The door clicked shut behind him, leaving Seojin alone with his thoughts. He paced the room, the weight of his predicament pressing down on him like an iron shackle.
Desperation clawed at him, and he knew he had to act. The longer he stayed, the more Jaeha would tighten his grip on him. Seojin needed to find a way to break free from the chains of possessiveness that bound him, to reclaim his own destiny.
With renewed determination, Seojin began to devise a plan. He would not remain a captive in his own life, no matter how much he loved Jaeha.
