The List was sure to contain at least some innocents by Lin‘s standards and Lin found it odd that Cauzmantis had to start his journey to chasing the myth with hunting down and elimanating all the threats to the society of believers. It had always seemed to Lin that everyone adores politics and wars, except for the folk who had to do the fighting. For the folk doing the fighting ideology and laws, and which ruler would benefit were not in the forefront of the soldiers minds, because that would be an incredible waste of mental resources. In order achieve any kind of efficiency on the battlefield a solider must be consumed with the mission and of course the survival of yourself as well as your brothers and sisters in arms. See Lin was all too aware that believing the myth, believing the society of believers was a benovelont governing body was of zero importance concerning who would be victorious. Some of the folk they would be fighting against would be fueled by thoughts of the tyrannical ways of the society of believers, and hearts full of angst becuase of the wrongdoing that had been inflicted upon them and their communities. Nonetheless Lin was confident that they would indeed fall victim to herself and her troops strictly because her training and leadership focused on survival, victory and nothing else.
Men looking for glory, men wanting to change the world, men wanting to knock off a malecifent power structure, and men with visions of a better world would do well to stay off the battlefield. And they usually did. But when they did not stay off the battlefield these men usually died and faced defeat. Why, you ask. Well Lin had her ideas of the reason and had taken notice that these men were suited for other positions that seldom included holding the weapons or being part of a military formation.
These men were usually better suited to convince populations and tribes and communities to send thire children to the barracks for training. These were the men who made grand speeches in front of crowds and discussed ideology and decided who was to be considered inferior and who was to be considered superior. These were the men that convinced others that they deserved elevated roles of power and influence just because of their ability to divide the masses and control the narratives. These men are neither hero’s nor warriors these men seek to conquer, they seek to set up rules and political parties, they seek to gain glory and get in the history books, and most importantly these men seek to convince all to believe a fundamental lie: That everyone should adore politics and wars!
