Lisa Conway looked at her portfolio. Her list of businesses and their bottom lines increased tenfold after her talks and help with businesses around Delaware. Something seemed to be amiss, however. She looked at her 501 (c) (3) and noticed that donations had decreased. Her brow furrowed. She scrolled the online account and sought after the main cause of this decline.

It was almost glaring. She had become so successful that people stopped giving her money. With the thought that she had achieved but couldn’t retain the same amount of funds given to her tax-deductible charity organization.

Though the decrease didn’t seem to be sharp, it however awakened in her a new sense of accumulating dollars and then seeing her program almost wither away. She actually thought about shutting it. Lisa raised from her chair and journeyed down to her kitchen for some water. The coolness always brought her mind at ease and gave her a bit of hydration to quell her stormy mind.

Back at it, Lisa noticed the frequency of some of her donors had dropped off when she landed the eight figure deal. She shook her head. In her mind, she thought of all the other people who had offered up a few dollars to aid in her cause. Her organization represented putting financial education courses in private schools. The dried up funds signaled in her the choice: go broke and have everyone feel sorry for her and give her their pay or she could continue to make more money and demonstrate how financial literacy in school will produce more entrepreneurs and executives.

By choosing the latter, she remained with a straight back against her ergonomic desk chair. A sigh slipped from her lips and she knew that this decision would work with what she really wanted.
