“Selfish?!”
Lisa didn’t hesitate to take on the outburst.
“Yes, selfish. That’s the root of all excellence. We have to remind ourselves that we’re each one of one, none before us, none to follow.”
Loreen then took control of the room. “As my colleague has just outlined, it is necessary to consider the fact that for business to function, we must observe our own self-interest.”
The executives grumbled amongst each other.
Loreen continued. “To impress upon the minds of the young, it is an honor and certainly extends into their very existence. Ever since we were children ourselves, our parents instructed us to share rather than trade. Imagine doing that now. Lend your worst enemy the keys to your house without payment or any other transactions. I’ll allow you to picture the results….”
“This is the lesson your students ought to know. Offer to them classes that will strengthen their ethical resolve,” she displayed on the screen charts that looked like slices of apple pie.
“As you can see, this is a third of the budget,” She directed a laser beam at the screen.
“What you want to do is be self-interested. These are the results of not relying on self and cooperating. That all can change, however. This portion of the pie,” she moved the beam again. “Right here is where you should be most concerned. Instead of reaching down to find a way for the students to just take in information, you should be ready to make available as many prompts, examples, and ideas to make their education whole.”
Lisa then stepped up to seize the floor.
“As you’ve seen, you have a noble leader. He is poised to give you marching orders in the battle for minds to flourish. We can show charts all day. Thank you.”
