Businesswoman Chapter 67
Verily

In the studio in Wilmington, dazzling lights highlighted the board which looked like something to control spacecraft. Loreen and Lisa kept up with the producer, Melanie Verily.
“Welcome ladies to the factory that has put out hits for Delaware’s finest musicians. Music scores have been mixed here. Whole orchestras have played on the other side of that glass,” Melanie pointed out.
“That’s impressive,” Loreen acknowledged.
“Yes, that’s rather intriguing. But you didn’t call us here for a tour….” Lisa got to the point.
Melanie sighed. “That’s right. It’s the burden of the industry. I’ve been able to find every loophole in various contracts. I retain my publishing and masters but my other artists aren’t receiving the same treatment. I’ve been accused, almost sued, by my own people.”
“Damn,” Loreen intoned.
“Yes, so this of course is the business of show and I know you two can help out with this situation,” Melanie admitted.
“Of course. You take those master recordings and publishing and make them available after explaining them. It’s not enough just to have them but to know how to use them.”
Melanie shook her head in disagreement.
“I have given the artists their residuals. I’ve made more millionaires than slot machines.
I just want to do right by them for their efforts.”
“We can restructure the deals so that we can allow the residuals to deposit in their accounts. If they have an understanding of the masters, let them keep them. Do all you can do to instruct them on how to employ them,” Lisa explained.
Loreen sent an entire document outlining the details of the deals on one page.
“You’ve got one page for everything I see….”
“Just about….” Loreen winked.
“Okay, did you want to hear some new music?”
Loreen and Lisa exchanged glances. “Of course!”
