In the capital of the First State, Loreen and Lisa found themselves on a panel with businessmen and a bureaucrat. They only agreed to be with the bureaucrat given that he advocates for free enterprise. All of them lived up to this…save two.

“Is that…?” Lisa asked. The staff gave her a mic to put on her lapel.

“Yes,” Loreen answered.

On the stage, Static State or Bovary Cornett sat with one leg over his other knee.

“With the people on this panel, he’s got the most power…on the surface. He’s a bureaucrat that could snap these billionaires’ business to shambles. Remove him from his office and he doesn’t have even toothpicks to stand up for himself,” Loreen explained.

Static State looked around and combed back his slick hair. In his seventies, he looked like he was in his nineties and projected an air of aristocracy.

“I know one thing,” Lisa said. “We’re going to have to undermine and undercut his words.”

“No. Accentuate the positive. Through our words of rationality and selfishness, we can explore our own ideals.”

“I understand. But how did he get on this panel anyway?”

“The businesspeople wanted him here.”

“Really…their own destroyer….”

Loreen chuckled lightly. “You pick up quickly, Lis’. Yes, their own works in their businesses go up against everything they represent. They, though, need him in our poor state of affairs between government and economics.”

Lisa looked over the panel having met everyone but Static State. She stayed nailed to her seat as he did as well. Loreen sat still as well but they both greeted the entrepreneurs. They forgot the bureaucrat.

When the panel concluded, Static State ambled over to both Loreen and Lisa and extended his hand. They both turned their backs on him and they walked off the stage.
