Businesswoman Chapter 62
Capacity

A few more shoppers continued into the store with fervor bordering on mania. In the middle of March, they treated the occasion like a Black Friday sale. Loreen and Lisa observed from the outside of the store. People fielded their questions.
“What was the goal here?” Lisa asked a middle aged mom of three.
“I just don’t understand. These are companies that cater to people with medium to little means. Why people are boycotting them is their business but I just don’t get it,” the woman’s face grew slack and her light skin grew sallow. She grasped the hands of her little people and entered the store with her head turned back.
“It’s interesting to see this work. The disdain for multi-billionaires and their corresponding companies is what puzzles me. They’ve made it nearly impossible to keep up with the idea that these merchants are here to alleviate their stations,” Loreen observed. A bit of smooth toughness slipped into her diction.
“Just because of what? Because corporations want to use merit instead of skin color? Or the color of someone’s skin takes over the content of their character and the capacity of their minds?” Lisa queried.
“Yes, and all of that and more. It is the height of envy. Everyone wants to be a billionaire, no one wants to be a billionaire. This lottery mentality is disgusting because they’ll disparage the billionaire but if they get the billions, it’s a different story. Oh, they’ll say they’ll give away to charity, nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is their morality deems this as not enough. You’ve gotta give until you bleed. Every dollar must be cast away for it to be true virtue according to their code.”
“So what do we do?” Lisa asked.
“What we must do. We shop!”
