Businesswoman Chapter 54

Champagne flowed from bottles. The drops of liquid gold displayed effervescence within the glasses. Around the ballroom, the people cheered. The hostess for the night stepped to the podium.

“We gather here to honor two women who have shown their ability to aid businesspeople on their journeys to success. It is with my honor from the office of the governor of the state of Delaware to present Businesswoman and Businessgirl with their Busies, the highest achievement in business in the state.”

More applause rose up from the room filled with tuxedos and evening gowns. It was like a sea of elegance that washed over the room. Military garb stood out as well. The room shot to its feet when the two women walked up to the microphone.

Loreen and Lisa wore immaculate, white gowns that looked like swans floating up to the platform.

Just as they were about to take to the mic, a figure slinked up to them.

“This is all a sham. I’m going to let you have your words. But first I have to make sure everyone has the notion that there is a possible alternative to this.”

The boos from the crowd made a cacophony that enveloped the room.

“There’s going to be a day when all of this will be owned by the state and none of us will have to worry about big corporations trampling on our rights,” the voice behind a mask announced. The figure then removed the mask to reveal Socialista. She grinned like blood had been between her teeth.

Loreen and Lisa calmly escorted Socialista to the custody of officers nearby.

Applause rose up once more at the action of Socialista being taken out of the ballroom.

Loreen and Lisa returned to the stage. Loreen stepped back as Lisa addressed everyone.
