Businesswoman Chapter 5
Next Stop, In-Town
A car’s dead battery caused it to ease to a slow stop on a stretch of highway in Newark, Delaware. Octavius Stillwell looked at his console computer. The battery had perished a death worth blogging about in the late evening. He called a ride share.
“Yes, I’d like to place an order for an electric car. Okay. Alright. Gotcha. Thanks.”
He looked glum. The rideshare was a gas guzzling, fossil fuel using triumph. A beautiful sedan, cherry red.
“What is this?” Stillwell asked.
The driver rolled down the window. It was Loreen Breen, Busineswoman.
“Businesswoman? A pleasure to meet you…how did you get into this line of work?”
“I’m officially CDL and have a license in every state.”
“What would be the purpose of that?”
“I can be recorded in them all and renew them at the same time from one location.”
“Okay….How do I fix this problem?”
“You’ve got two options; one, you allow me to recharge your battery for at least an hour or we can just tow it to the next platform with a charging station.”
“Anything else?”
“You hop in this snazzy automobile and we’ll be off into the night. It just shows you how carbon based vehicles can run out of gas, too, but at least you don’t have to wait as long for it to get going again.”
Stillwell looked at his smartwatch. “You’re a mighty persuasive lady, Businesswoman.”
“Call me Loreen. I’m just excited you chose to get it in here. Don’t worry about your car, The truck will be there to charge it up and take it to your residence.”
“How will they know—” Stillwell started. Then he remembered that he gave his information when hailing Loreen’s ridesharing service.
“This is going to be fun!” She chimed.
“I anticipate that,” he replied.
