“So you don’t….” Lisa suggested.
“I never have,” Loreen replied.
“It was up to the age of fourteen when I broke away….”
“I, from the age of seven knew.”
Lisa looked perplexed. “Did you ever question?”
“Not after I realized that you have to believe in warlocks, witches, and the tooth fairy to believe it all.”
“When your parents noticed that you were averse to coming to service, what did they do?”
Loreen chuckled a bit. “At first they thought something was wrong. Then, they just sort of accepted it.”
“Wow,” Lisa exclaimed with a softness. “What was it like amongst your peers?”
“My classmates were mainly like my parents but I didn’t mind it. We still played and interacted together despite our differences in ideas.”
“That’s what we need to have in government,” Lisa felt an “aha” moment arise.
“What’s that?” Loreen asked.
“We need to have a complete separation from the State and ideas. Not everyone will be like us. We have to embrace the thought of giving people the freedom to use their beliefs in whatever way they can. The government just can’t have any say other than protecting people’s right to have faith.”
Loreen looked at Lisa for a long time.
“Yes, that will solve the many too many problems that plague the populace,” Loreen acknowledged.
“That should be our next crusade…amplifying people’s ability to make up their own minds. If they choose to worship a deity or more, that’s their business, not the government’s.”
The two women reclined in the back of Loreen’s luxury Goulding automobile. They felt the cooling of the seats and the massaging mechanism.
“I think the whole faith-based initiatives will fall of their own weight. There doesn’t need to be force levied against them,” Lisa observed.
“You’re right,” Loreen said, smiling.
