As night fell, a certain anxiety pervaded the room. Lisa sipped a cappuccino. She looked at the piece of paper with Loreen’s scribblings.
“What if we just send them notes on how to do their jobs?”
“C’mon, Lis. We can do this without rancor.”
“Did I sound rancorous just then?”
Entrepreneur Paul snorted.
“We’re going to make sure this rocket launches. I don’t give a damn,” Loreen almost growled.
"This is simple,” Entrepreneur Paul announced. He waved his hands. “We just have to secure a trip to Houston.”
“I’m not leaving Delaware,” Loreen declared.
“I’m staying here, too. Everything on this sheet can be transcribed and made available to those engineers down in Texas.
Loreen folded her arms across her chest. She walked slowly, methodically. Her gait remained slow and her steps looked precise. Her nails clicked together.
“If we just scan this thing, we can permit them the chance of putting that thing in the atmosphere.”
“I don’t know Lor’.”
She felt a sting and then like a boost of energy after hearing his words.
“Okay. I’m listening,” she replied.
“I just think—”
“You think?” Lisa asked.
“No, let him speak,” Loreen remarked.
“If we can show them our calculations, we can allow them to shine through. The problem is not with the spacecraft. It’s the mission control manager. She’s not allowing any sort of ideas.”
“Yes,” Lisa acknowledged. “I think you’re right about this one. We have to proclaim to her that a meltdown at this stage will jeopardize the entire mission.”
Loreen took the sheet of paper and wrote down a few figures. Her hands fierce, she scribbled with intent and direct action. She wrote about three paragraphs that seemed long. She held the paper in front of her.
“We understand you’re going through. We’re with you.”
