The park welcomed the Wilmingtonians. The seventy-three degree Fahrenheit weather warmed the walkers. Two of them had been Lisa and Devlin. They strolled at a pace that seemed like they would fly.

“I’m glad you’re here with me,” Lisa mentioned.

“Where else would I be?” Devlin grinned.

“I just…with all that’s happened over these past few weeks….”

“Banish it from your thoughts. We’re here as one right now,” Devlin reassured.

Just then, a bevy of cameras flashed like bits of lightning in front of their faces.

Clearly distraught, Lisa almost fell into the street.

“Go! Go! Get from here!” Devlin yelled. He held her underarm and prevented her from falling.

“I’m okay.” She said it with a confidence in her voice that also seemed fragile.

“Let’s get into a car,” Devlin suggested.

Once they hailed a robotaxi, they sat and Devlin put in the coordinates to the restaurant where they met. He kissed her fade. A few tears rolled by as she began to smile. A deep, resonant laugh bubbled inside of her.

“We’re here. We’re stepping out right now,” Devlin offered her his hand and they entered.

Choi’s restaurant opened its doors to the couple. No photographers or reporters bothered them. A seat had already been prepared for the two of them.

“Memories, right?”

“Good ones,” Lisa reminded him. She sniffled a bit and laughed. She was like a waif or some sprite in her little black dress and flats. Devlin’s black suit and shirt unbuttoned matched her outfit. What made them at ease came with their orders pre-made for them. Fire dragon sushi and saké sat in front of them.

“I’m just not hungry,” She looked down and brought her head back.

“That’s okay we can take these plates home.” Devlin motioned for the manager to box everything.
