Some cold air seeped in between the door and the bank of servers. The coolness allowed for the various components to normalize. Lisa already looked calm despite the attacks on her systems.
The coders had jumped into action and permitted no further disturbances. But shecstill had to worry about copycat attacks.
“What is the function of the ones on your end?” she asked Entrepreneur Paul.
“We have fifteen currently banging energy drinks to ensure that the seal on your company’s computers remains tight.” His reassurance seemed platinum in her mind. It helped that they had been friends and when things got sticky, they bonded together with agility and grace.
Lisa already spent a good piece of her own fortune on vouchers for those affected by the infiltration. She knew she would have to spend it some way and that this would be the most selfish and righteous thing to do.
In the moments following the attack, Entrepreneur Paul also upped the pay of those on the digital firing line. For him to use his billions meant he had been self-interested, too.
Loreen shook her head. “You’re a master,” she intoned.
“I know, I was just thinking that,” Entrepreneur Paul mentioned.
Loreen straightened as if to return a salute to a young field officer. “You saved Lisa’s business.”
“You didn’t do too bad yourself,” Atkinson replied. “If you hadn't suggested I grab my coders, this could have ended horrifically for her. I’m proud of my team. I’m sure she’s going to snag a few of my guys and put them on her team. I don’t mind.”
“I know I need to re-educate my roster,” Loreen added. “They are veterans in the game and know not to get lazy. Some of them, though, I know need to get some diamond parachutes.”
“True.”
