When another message appeared on her screen, Lisa felt reluctant to open it. She considered it a challenge, something to surmount. To overcome the idea of failure, this took root in her consciousness. Failure again seemed to seep into her daily routines as far as the company is concerned.
She tapped it anyway. An image and a short bio appeared on her screen. The guy looked appealing but his stats appeared to be most fascinating. He included his eight figure net worth and more important his zeal for having made that much money.
It took her a few moments to catch her breath. His screen name read Lenner Hardison. He just celebrated his thirty-first birthday. He stood in a flawless business suit with his arms folded. A few photos of him playing with a black Cane Corso and eating at local taco trucks. Every one of the pictures showed a radiant smile of white teeth against black skin.
She coupled Hardison’s page and waited for his response. Three bubbles appeared and her heart quickened. With the might of the universe weighing down on this situation, she waited for words to appear. None did, only a crying laughing emoji. She’d just been trolled.
After this sick trick, she felt flustered and nearly enraged.
She swiped and cast the message into the trash can. She wondered about how people must think she got rid of unwanted messages. This is all it took. She considered making a video about the whole ordeal. In just about any situation, she controlled with elegance and strength. Now, though, her knees felt like oatmeal. She wanted to ball up and just cry, but she remained vigilant.
By inspiring her team, she wiped her eyes and breathed in sharply. That reality of searching for a connection smoldered mentally.
