Businesswoman Chapter 257
The Blood Diamond
Lisa Conway sipped coffee. The bitter notes danced on her tongue. She peered at the number of subscribers she currently amassed. five million users in nine months. She wondered to herself about whether she would be rich from being famous, or famous for being rich. She banished the thought and went back to business.
What she also noted was a romance brewing between two engineers about six hundred miles apart. She only knew because human resources notified her. Bolivar Fantana, head of the department, presented Lisa with the situation.
“So?” Lisa said upon receiving the news.
“She’s his superior….”
“Oh. Well, tell them to stop their interactions until he is promoted to supervisor as well. Make sure they become managers together, too.”
“Got it.”
Again, the pangs came to her. The employees under her had found love on her own site and now anticipated promotions. She shook her head half in puzzlement, half in amazement. The site worked. It could stand with the best of them. There had been some hiccups along the way, but if her own staff could be in two totally different locations, she held onto hope like a palm-sized diamond in her fist.
It was like the diamond, however, cut into her skin. This was not the blood diamond from horrific scenes at mines where people had been slaughtered or maimed. This diamond represented all she had left in her life. The money felt great to have and to hold. She aspired for more.
In her mind she continued to understand what she wanted most was to forever be Businessgirl, even when she was sixty. She also yearned for the affection of a man of substance. With her skill and willingness to be great she wished to share this with a mate. That’s all she asked.
