Bees always fascinated Lisa. The way they constructed entire ecosystems and could create worlds where there existed none. She felt like the queen bee, now. Instead of mating with drones, she engaged in business deals with investors. The site remained untouched by advertisements, still.
Her love of the freemium model promoted within her a sense she could continue with the business. It wasn’t that she remained adverse to ads, she wanted to clean up her own house to allow visitors to look around without stepping on a digital landmine in the form of a commercial.
“We’ve gotta do ads,” her chief operating officer, Dylan Roberts affirmed. He looked like he was still a teen although he was twenty seven. His braids wrapped around his head like roads stretching across his scalp.
“We don’t,” Lisa replied with emphasis.
“If we’re going to survive in this environment, we’re going to need to put up ads in order to attract more eyeballs.”
“I don’t—” she started and her eyes turned to saucers. “We need to have a site that can cater to the blind, too!”
“What?”
“We should have audio descriptions of what is onscreen. We can implement the software based on other models.”
“What other problems?” Roberts asked in a sincere tone.
“There are plenty of software apps that provide sonic thoughts throughout. With the right algorithm, we can integrate it with the site.”
Roberts considered the issue. He wanted to stay on the ad topic but knew he could not sway his boss without at least entertaining her idealism. In her eyes, he could see that she wanted to have his idea be the drone and for her idea to be the queen bee. The drone of course would die moments later.
“We won’t be able to pay for it, though.”
