Mondays represented freshness to Loreen. Everybody harped on how Friday was so glorious. Why? she thought. The end of the work week did not appeal to her. Instead, she worked weekends. But this Monday invigorated her. She opened her portfolio of investments and began trimming and primping.

An idea popped on her mental dashboard….She could continue her deal with the rocket company or cut ties. She could suspend her relations with the businesses she held dear to make them strong…or not.

The decisions burned in her like coals in a fire. They ganged up on her and pestered her. She didn’t flinch. She chose to keep the deals and the businesses. When she found herself at last trying to piece all of this together in a unified whole, however, she remained stymied.

It bothered her that people didn’t hustle as hard as she performed. It struck her as insolence against Nature to not be on the grind. She shook her head and continued down the pathway of righteousness.

This Monday, like any other she treated like yesterday. The majesty and the glory bestowed upon a non-existent, supernatural deity should have been reserved for work, she figured.

The investigation of the note also smoldered in her mind. She kept thinking it was an elaborate hoax. How did it get in her house? Her subconsciousness was like a traditional oven. Sparks flew out from time to time and scorched her consciousness.

With her mental agility, she let it burn. To not give in to her worst fears and nightmares, she prepared herself a way of taming the flames. She worked. Smart work over hard work always seemed to cool the fiery furnace of her mind.

She grabbed a pen and pad and wrote down on the stationary: “Not today, Evil.” She smiled.
