At first, Lisa thought the letter came from the Collectivists. Then she knew they would be responsible for more nefarious work.

“Miss Conway, we know you had to use a candle. Your prints are also all over it. But we came up with a match,” Detective Brady McDowell intoned. “It's Percy Downson. He had been suspected of sending notes like this in previous years but has largely been quiet as of late.”

“What can be done?”

“We’re looking to see if he’s still in Delaware. It’s not a crime exactly, what he did. It’s more of a nuisance case. You can get a restraining order, but that won’t do any good because he has not been in physical contact with you. Unless you have other information….”

“No, I just go through my days without much contact, to be exact.”

Mcdowell, clean shaven and fortyish folded his arms and leaned back a bit. Lisa straightened.

“Do you hate the poor, Miss Conway?”

“Absolutely not. And it’s not because I have 501 (c) (3) organizations that I say this. I support anyone who is productive or has the potential for being productive. Even people with physical disabilities or mental incapacities can still do something. I’m all for that. I just don’t damn the rich. This usually rankles folks.”

McDowell sneered. “Okay. If we find any leads as to where Downson may be hiding, we will alert you.”

“I appreciate that. Thank you.”

Lisa left the police station and hailed a ride share vehicle. She took her time looking through her information on her phone. In moments, her state ID, business card, and social media sites all fell into a digital folder.

When she finally returned to her apartment, an air of liberty swept through her soul.

Her spirit had been moved beautifully.
