Loreen peered at her smartwatch. She looked placid despite her mind on fire. A potential businessperson was supposed to arrive for an appointment. Two minutes ago. That was Loreen’s rule. She allowed a two-minute grace period. She rose from her seat in her office. She called her assistant.

“Pedro, cancel all my appointments for the day, please,” Loreen commanded and gathered her purse and keys. Then….

“Miss Breen, there is a woman named Lisa Conway here who is soaked and getting rainwater all over your carpet.”

“Send her in, please,” Loreen called.

The young woman was twenty-two and had green eyes the color of Granny Smith apples.

“I’m so sorry I’m late…the rain and my car…I pulled over three times.”

“Well, now you’re here,” Loreen sighed. “I’ve looked over your portfolio. Three LLCs and a 501 (c) (3). That’s impressive at any age. Why do you want to be part of Businesswoman’s company?” Loreen asked in third person.

“I know you’re a ‘crusader for the businessperson.’ You’ve shown that you’re a way maker and a purveyor of justice. I want to be a part of that.”

“Do you want to be called Businessgirl?” Loreen queried.

“I mean…I wouldn’t mind it…yes! That has a great ring to it!”

Loreen looked at Lisa. She saw herself at her age. A hustler. Someone who could get things done and done right. She looked at the water collecting around Lisa’s feet.

“Come, let me find you some dry, warm clothes.” She connected to a delivery service in Wilmington, Delaware that delivered clothes in minutes. She allowed a few more moments for the rain.

Once all of her specifications had been entered, the clothes came in under fifteen minutes. Lisa donned the clothes and felt a kinship with the CEO.

“You’ve got this,” Loreen reminded.
