In all her twenty-nine years, Loreen esteemed the words of her elders. Suzanna Boers, sixty-two, had built a fortune selling the oil that goes in hot oil treatments. The two business titans sat down in Suzanna’s office. Everything sparkled as glass covered most of the surfaces.

“Look at what you’ve done already. At your age, I was fortunate enough to sell maybe thirty thousand units a month. Now, you…you’re busy schooling the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

Loreen nodded. “I get my pointers from the best sources,” she tipped an invisible hat towards Suzanna.

“What I’m trying to understand, though, is why you chose the five hundred million dollars….”

“I know I’m worth billions, but I took another cut to be able to speak my mind. Other firms wanted me to change my lesson plans. They offered two, maybe three billion dollars. MasterMind Classes permit me to say whatever I wish.”

“I would’ve taken the money.”

“Respectfully, that’s where you and I differ, Mrs. Boers. You have all of this opulence and wealth. You built this. But you also sold on your principles, no?”

Suzanna gasped audibly. “Why….”

“It’s true. You’re not the same from those scrappy days hustling products from door to door. You’ve changed for the worst. While I love you, I don’t respect you for that.” Suzanna looked shocked. Then, she relaxed.

“You’re right. I sold my soul not for riches but for vanity. I wanted to shine. I wanted to be the face of every magazine, business, beauty, or otherwise.”

“I get it. When I first started, I got the itch for fame. But I just parlayed my popularity into my businesses and allowed them to flourish. You’re a walking cautionary tale, but I love the fact you paved a way for entrepreneurs like myself,” Loreen mentioned.
