Money sat in Lisa’s account. She stared at the figures and grinned. During this celebratory time, she video chatted with Loreen.
“I know you know how it went,” Lisa intimated.
“Of course I do. I was the one who made sure you got paid, remember?”
“Yes. Of course. Thank you.”
“Thank yourself. You’ve got it together. To be able to command that stage on that level is extraordinary. But enough with the pleasantries. We’ve got to secure our next ability to sing for our soup.” Loreen’s face looked like a mixture of cold steel and soft cashmere. She sipped coffee.
“When Paul gets back in town again, we could even do a trio. I don’t foresee any conflicts in schedules on the horizon.” Loreen continued.
“What you did was the most selfish thing anyone could do and it was glorious,” Lisa commented.
“I know.”
“For you to have such confidence is a real mark of ingenuity in the sphere of ethics.”
Loreen sat straightfaced and looked into the screen. “My family comes first. Now, you can get cute and say. ‘Work is first.’ And that’s true. But I can get back the money and my passion for helping businesses and delivering talks. I can’t get back the time I share with my kids or their activities.”
Lisa wiped a tear from her face.
“Oh, don’t you go bawling on me. You’re going to make me cry and I just put on mascara.”
“I got you bosswoman.” Lisa switched gears. “Hey, we can start planning for the events to come. I’ve got a digital notebook of ideas that I wanted to tease.”
“I can’t wait to see those. I know your brilliance and the thing we face now is not money or time but intention. Our intent has to be excellence.”
