The way the bicycle could maneuver through the traffic looked inspiring. With deftness, the rider kept weaving in and out of the cars. By using proper hand signals, there seemed to be a certain flow and even a bit of verse in the way the wheels carried the rider. Who could it be other than Entrepreneur Paul arriving thirty minutes before a meeting.
Before going into the skyscraper, he locked his bicycle with an electronic device that secured it to the post just outside the building. Once he entered, heads turned and low whispers arose.
“May I have your autograph?” a young man about nineteen-years-old asked, his face glowing with anticipation.
“Sure, son. I’ve got time.”
After this encounter a small line formed and Atkinson signed every person’s sneaker, shirt, post card, whatever. Then, he walked away as the room applauded his appearance. This didn’t happen regularly, they knew that Atkinson would be back in Delaware from his excursions around the globe. They waited for his arrival at one of his first in-person meetings since touching down at the airport. His talks continued to stir discussion. He waited in the elevator in jeans, construction boots, and a leather jacket with the sleeves cut. He opened the door and found his way to the c-suite.
He opened the door and not a soul had been on that floor.
“Am I on the right level?” He asked himself. No receptionists, no office assistants, no c-suite. The place was deserted. He checked the time on the wall. He still had fifteen minutes to figure out this little conundrum. He went back into the elevator and checked another floor, this time the top. No one.
He began to move coolly, his heart never palpitating. As the seconds ticked by, he just phoned the CEO.
