Loreen sat back in her chair at her apartment in downtown Wilmington. The socials all showed the pictures of the venue where she was supposed to speak. The newscasters offered sobering facts but no solid leads to who placed the threat.

Breen drove his Huntston sports car to her location. He wanted to shield her, caress her, and let her know security rested within him. When he reached her, she flung her arms into space and embraced her husband.

“I’m more than okay,” she reassured him.

“I’ve arranged for you to go to Maryland….”

“No, I’m staying in Delaware.”

“But it’s not safe here. You can lay low and draw off your interest in the meantime.”

“No. Delaware is my home. There are going to be attempts and threats in the future. I’m prepared for whatever. She opened a case where a nine millimeter pistol rested.

“You can’t be the talent and the security detail at the same time.”

“I think I can pinpoint who did it anyway. My estimation is that…well it doesn’t matter. I’m not going to play detective.”

“That’s a good sign. We’re going to strengthen your security detail. When we have the idea for you to be shielded from the onslaught of irrational behavior, we can see you start your business again.”

“I know. It’s just that…I want to show my excellence without fearing what could happen to me.”

“That’s understood.”

“So, I’m going back out there soon.”

“Take it easy, sweetheart….”

“I will not. I have reason on my side. I’m not acting out of hubris but ego.”

“I’m glad your ego is intact but I’m more concerned about you going out there and being blown to bits or shot to death or something.” She then placed her left palm on Breen’s face.

“I see.”
