Businesswoman Chapter 123
Laws without Justice

A light flickered and then went out like a punch to the eye. Atkinson looked directly in the eye of his client. He let him speak.
“It’s crazy. You can’t get over, go under, or break through. These ‘laws’ are so flagrant, I just don’t know how to conduct my business anymore,” Fred Gunn explained, apprehension creeping into his voice. “I was recommended to go to Entrepreneur Paul to fix this mess. Did I make the right decision?”
“Yes,” Atkinson proclaimed with confidence.
“While I cannot change the laws, I can find every loophole and make sure you glide through them. These laws hinder, hamper and harm just to hinder, hamper, and harm. They represent the knocking down of the successful for the simple sake of doing that vicious act. I can show you how to plan accordingly. We can ensure that your business can be shielded from the onslaught of government interference.”
Gunn sighed and then gasped. Sweat, which had begun to bead around his neck collar started to evaporate.
“You don’t know what this means. The saddest part is that it’s like a race to the bottom. If you’re unsuccessful, you get all the perks and goodies. If you make it, the State wants to know how and why and who.”
Atkinson sighed, now. “Yes, such laws create an atmosphere of mediocrity. As long as you’re average or below, you make the grade. It is particularly horrific when it comes to honest men such as yourself. Women, too.”
It was the first smile Gunn had cracked in weeks. He stretched across his face like a hammock.
“Don’t worry,” Atkinson reminded. “All of this can go away with a few swipes of a stylus. Like I said, the laws are set, but I can make the burden just disappear.”

Lawless character in your story reminds me of another lawless character. Laws are made for a reason.
