Oscar Dewitt looked at his tablet. He couldn’t understand where one hundred thousand dollars had gone. He video chatted with Loreen from her home.
“Hey, Businesswoman!” Dewitt chimed, trying to use an exclamation to hide his anxiety. Loreen picked up on it.
“You wouldn’t have called me if there was no issue. Tell me the problem.”
“I’ve got six figures that I knew had been in my business account. I think we have a problem with our accounting….”
“Yes, that could be the culprit. Did you make any major purchases or invest in any companies in the past few weeks?” Loreen asked.
“Well….” Dewitt figured.
“If you have had any major purchases, they should appear in your balance and give you exactly where the vendor, merchant, or enterprise received those funds.”
“I get that. I would just like to know where the money went.”
Loreen started to type as she peered at the screen. Like a machine churning out data, she made it clear how Dewitt could not account for the funds.
“Yes,” she announced. “I just did a search of my own funds and noticed that the ledger balance can be taxed. After controls and regulations, this is the most vicious of all government functions. Check your timing and what you did with those dollars.”
“So, all of this is because of taxes?”
“It’s also due to the throttling done by regulators,” she replied with a sigh.
“Goddamnit!”
“I know, I know. I'm planning on moving my powers from the First State to the Capital.”
“Your effectiveness will be most welcomed by the businesspeople.”
“When it comes to fighting against those bureaucrats, make sure to abolish the Fed.”
“Oh, I have my targets set on that facet of government that should’ve never been a facet.”
“I thank you.”
“Absolutely.”
