Businesswoman Chapter 109
Yearning

When Loreen returned to the private library, she noticed that most of the different sections soon disappeared. Asian literature, English literature, American Indian literature, most of the cultures disappeared. Save for African American literature.
Loreen’s mouth held slightly ajar. She put her hands on her hips. She walked over to Dagger. Like a lioness purring lowly, she indicated in no uncertain terms that she stood there displeased.
“What’s going on, Craig?”
“What’s that, Businesswoman?”
“The books…where are they?”
“The board figured you were busy so they neglected to contact you. They decided to do away with clusters of works except for black American literature. To make you happy.”
“Tell your assistant to cover for you. We’re going out in the parking lot.”
Dagger followed the little irate woman outside of the building. Once they were both clear of the quiet zone, Loreen raised her voice but not by much.
“I am a woman of color who happens to live in America. I’m only “black” when it comes to racism. What the board did is racism. Did they want to appease me because of my skin color?”
“I know, I know,” Dagger reassured and rubbed Loreen’s arm.
“Please don’t touch me. I don’t know you like that, Mr. Dagger.”
“I won’t anymore.”
“Alright, now that that’s understood, I’ve got to figure out a way to get these books back on the shelves.”
Dagger looked up and down. “I can type up a message to the board….” he suggested.
“No need for that.” Loreen’s eyes turned to flaming coals. She dug deep within herself and decided on her own.
“No. I can bring in books from the supplier and replenish the thirsty shelves yearning to offer the next mind a glimpse into a different set of ideas, emotions, passions, and lives.”
