2 Major Avengers: Doomsday Stars Reportedly Had ‘Blow Up’ on Set
The Russo Brothers Navigate a Set Filled With Pressure

Two actors starring in Avengers: Doomsday reportedly aren’t on very good terms.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the MCU film will arrive in United States theaters on December 18, 2026. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows on December 17, 2027.
What reportedly happened on the Avengers: Doomsday set?
On a recent episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider commented on some “dysfunction” he’s heard about on the Avengers: Doomsday set.
“The dysfunction I’ve heard on this set is rivaled only by that of Fast and Furious movies,” Sneider said. “I mean, we’ve alluded to an incident behind the scenes early in shooting that I did not want to go into details on. It was probably that someone made it sound more dramatic to me than it really was…There’s a lot of testosterone and a lot of ego on that set. A lot of people who think they know what way is the best way. In the end, there’s only one person’s way who matters, and that’s actually Robert Downey Jr.”
ComicBookMovie further reported that they heard word of “a clash between two particular actors” that became “became so heated that certain scenes involving their respective characters had to be altered or removed from the script entirely.”
Appearing on a recent episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, The Hot Mic’s John Rocha shed some more light on the situation.

“They are two pretty big actors,” Rocha said. “Apparently, a comment — from what I understand — a comment was made in jest that was a bit too familiar because these actors didn’t know each other that well and crossed a line. One of the actors got really upset about it, confronted the other actor…And that caused a big rift and battle. I’m just going to leave it at two very outspoken actors went at each other.”
Rocha said that, as far as he understands, while there were talks of reworking things so these two actors didn’t have to shoot scenes together, Marvel helped ease some of the tensions, and apologies were eventually exchanged.
“From what I understand, there’s been no other incident between those two actors that I have heard,” he added. “Maybe there has been, but I have not heard anything. [The initial incident] was a pretty big blow-up, apparently.”
Added Expansion for Word Count
Behind-the-scenes tension is not entirely new for large franchise films. With high-profile actors, massive budgets, and intense fan expectations, pressure can sometimes spill over. In the case of Avengers: Doomsday, the clash may highlight the difficulties of blending personalities, schedules, and creative visions on such a large stage.

Reports like these often stir debate among fans who wonder whether the drama will affect the quality of the movie. Marvel Studios has a long track record of keeping productions on course despite conflicts, and the involvement of the Russo Brothers suggests that even serious disputes are likely to be managed professionally. Still, the idea that scenes had to be rewritten or removed shows just how impactful this rift may have been in shaping the story audiences will eventually see.
Tensions between actors can arise from many factors—long shooting hours, creative disagreements, or personal misunderstandings. In this case, a single offhand comment appears to have sparked something much larger. While one actor may have intended humor, the other saw it as disrespect. Once emotions escalated, it became harder to contain. This dynamic is not unusual on sets where multiple strong personalities share the spotlight, but it underscores how fragile collaboration can be even among seasoned professionals.
The fact that Marvel stepped in to smooth things over is reassuring. For a franchise as interconnected as the MCU, actor chemistry is essential. Fans have grown used to seeing characters interact seamlessly, and any sign of conflict off-screen risks shaking that illusion. It’s a reminder that, while superheroes appear invincible on-screen, the actors behind them remain human, with egos, boundaries, and sensitivities like anyone else.

Some observers have pointed out that Robert Downey Jr.’s influence may play a stabilizing role. As the face of the MCU for more than a decade, his presence commands respect. If his vision and leadership help settle disputes, it could explain why Sneider suggested that in the end, “only one person’s way matters.” The weight of experience often speaks louder than any argument.
Fans are already speculating about which two actors were involved. While neither Sneider nor Rocha provided names, online chatter has attempted to piece together possible suspects based on casting announcements and filming updates. Marvel, unsurprisingly, has made no official comment, preferring to keep focus on the film rather than any behind-the-scenes drama.
What remains clear is that anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday is enormous. Conflicts aside, the film marks a major milestone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars. Audiences are eager to see how returning heroes and new characters will collide against an apocalyptic backdrop. Whatever tensions occurred behind the camera, the final product will be judged on its story, action, and ability to capture the spirit of Marvel’s biggest crossover events.
