USAID Awards Grant to The Sentry and Castellum.AI to Close Data Gaps in Financial Crime Prevention
USAID Awards Grant to The Sentry and Castellum

The Sentry and Castellum.AI have received funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to launch a ground-breaking project on October 16, 2024, in New York City and Washington, DC, to provide data on the risk of corruption in the private sector. The collaboration between The Sentry and Castellum.AI will make use of artificial intelligence and the patented data enrichment method that Castellum.AI uses to identify corruption risk among customers and counterparties for businesses and banks all over the world. “At Castellum.AI, we believe that data transparency is crucial to combating financial crime,” said Peter Piatetsky, CEO of Castellum.AI. “This project will enable more businesses—from small enterprises in emerging markets to large banks from New York to Singapore–to access vital data that helps prevent corruption and sanctions evasion. We are thrilled to collaborate with The Sentry to ensure that the organizations most capable of preventing money laundering and corruption have access to this valuable data. "The Sentry is excited to strengthen our partnership with Castellum.ai and expand our data-sharing efforts with more NGOs and civil society groups investigating corruption," stated Michelle-Kendler-Kretsch, Investigations Manager at The Sentry. While investigative NGOs like The Sentry uncover vital evidence, making these findings actionable for the private sector can be a challenge. This grant allows us to bridge that gap by building an AI-powered collaborative platform for NGOs worldwide.
