The Lion and the Deer

Once upon a time, in a vast green forest, there lived a proud lion named Simba. He was the king of the jungle, strong and fierce, and all the animals feared him. In the same forest lived a gentle deer named Dira. She was kind-hearted, quick on her feet, and loved by all the smaller animals.

One hot summer day, Simba went out hunting but couldn’t find any food. Weary and thirsty, he came across a small pond where Dira was drinking water. Seeing her, Simba thought, “Finally, my meal has come to me.”

But as he crept closer, Dira noticed him and calmly said, “Oh mighty king, why do you always hunt us? We have done you no harm. If you give me a chance, I can show you another way to find food without chasing us.”

Simba paused, curious. “What could a small deer possibly teach me?”

Dira smiled. “Come with me tomorrow at sunrise. Trust me just once.”

The next morning, Dira led Simba deep into the forest where wild fruits grew in abundance. Nearby, there was also a cave filled with sleeping bats and small animals. “See, Your Majesty,” Dira said, “you do not always need to chase or harm. Nature gives food in many forms — fruits for peace, and animals who are already weak or fallen, without need for cruelty.”

Simba thought for a while. He realized that ruling through fear brought loneliness, but wisdom and patience could bring respect and harmony. From that day, Simba became a kinder king. He only hunted when truly needed and protected the weak.

Dira and Simba became unlikely friends, teaching the forest that even the strongest and the gentlest can live together in peace.
