The last letter

A journey of discovery, healing and love

By Jackson NjauPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Possible story:

Anna and Leo met at a bookstore, where they both reached for the same novel. They smiled at each other and started a conversation about their favorite authors. They discovered that they had a lot in common, and exchanged phone numbers. They agreed to meet again for coffee the next day.

They soon became inseparable, spending hours talking, laughing, and sharing their dreams. They fell in love, and decided to move in together. They were happy and supportive of each other, and enjoyed exploring the city and trying new things. They adopted a cat named Luna, who became their furry companion.

One day, Leo received a letter from his estranged father, who lived in another country. He had been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and wanted to see Leo before he died. Leo was conflicted, as he had not spoken to his father in years, after he had abandoned him and his mother. He felt angry and hurt, but also curious and guilty. He decided to go and visit him, and asked Anna to come with him. She agreed, even though she was nervous about meeting his father and leaving their home.

They flew to his father's country, and took a taxi to his house. It was a small and shabby place, surrounded by a fence. Leo knocked on the door, and a frail and pale man opened it. He looked at Leo with a mix of surprise and sadness, and said his name. Leo nodded, and introduced Anna. His father invited them in, and they sat on a couch in the living room. There was an awkward silence, as they did not know what to say.

Leo's father broke the ice, and apologized for his past actions. He said he had made many mistakes, and regretted hurting Leo and his mother. He said he had been a selfish and irresponsible person, who had wasted his life on gambling and drinking. He said he had tried to contact them several times, but they had ignored him. He said he understood their anger, and did not expect their forgiveness. He said he just wanted to see Leo one last time, and tell him he loved him.

Leo listened to his father's words, and felt a surge of emotions. He felt sorry for his father, who looked so weak and lonely. He felt confused, as he did not know how to react to his father's apology. He felt angry, as he remembered how his father had left them without a word, and how he and his mother had struggled to survive. He felt betrayed, as he wondered why his father had not tried harder to be a part of his life. He felt nothing, as he realized he did not have a bond with his father.

He looked at Anna, who was holding his hand and giving him a supportive smile. He felt grateful, as he remembered how she had been there for him, and how she had made him happy. He felt love, as he realized how much he cared for her, and how much she cared for him. He felt hopeful, as he thought about their future together, and how they could overcome any challenge.

He looked at his father again, and said he forgave him. He said he did not hate him, and he hoped he would find peace. He said he was glad he had come, and he thanked him for his honesty. He said he loved him too, and he hugged him.

His father smiled, and said he was proud of him. He said he was happy he had found Anna, and he wished them all the best. He said he was sorry he could not offer them anything, and he hoped they would stay for a while. He said he had a lot of stories to tell them, and he hoped they would listen.

They stayed for a week, and listened to his father's stories. They learned about his childhood, his dreams, his failures, and his regrets. They laughed, cried, and hugged. They felt a connection, and a closure. They said goodbye, and promised to keep in touch.

They flew back to their home, and hugged Luna. They resumed their life, and cherished their love. They were happy, and they never forgot their trip. They never forgot Leo's father, who died a month later. They never forgot their story, which was a story about love.
