Shadows of the Crown
Bound by Shadows, United by Secrets A Curse Awakens Between a Servant and a Princess in a World of Forbidden Magic.

In the kingdom of Valisara, where the moon seemed to always hang low in the sky, casting silver shadows over the ancient castle, Liora lived a life of quiet servitude. She had been brought to the palace at the age of 12, just another orphan from the war-torn outskirts, and quickly became invisible among the other servants. Her days were filled with polishing marble floors, serving lavish feasts, and blending into the background of royal affairs.
But something always felt 'off" about the royal family especially Princess Elara.
Elara was the epitome of grace and beauty, beloved by the people for her gentle demeanor and kindness. Yet, to Liora, there was always an unsettling chill whenever she entered the room. It wasn't just the princess's pale complexion or the way she seemed to glide through the halls. It was her eyes haunted, sharp, and hiding something Liora couldn't quite place.
One evening, after the grand ball celebrating Elara’s engagement to Prince Kael, Liora was sent to clean the princess’s quarters. The moonlight streamed through the window, making the room glow eerily. As Liora dusted the shelves, her hand brushed against an ancient, leather-bound book hidden behind a golden vase. Her curiosity got the better of her, and she opened it.
The pages were filled with cryptic symbols and ancient spells, but one word stood out: "Blood."
Suddenly, the door creaked open. Liora’s heart froze as she spun around to face Princess Elara, who stood in the doorway, eyes glowing faintly under the moon’s light.
"You shouldn’t have touched that," Elara said softly, though there was no warmth in her voice.
"I... I’m sorry, Your Highness," Liora stammered, stepping away from the book.
Elara stepped closer, her movements unnaturally fluid. "It’s too late. You’ve seen enough now."
Before Liora could react, the princess moved with impossible speed, her hand gripping Liora’s arm. Elara's touch was cold as ice, sending a wave of fear down Liora’s spine.
"I wasn’t always like this," Elara whispered, her voice filled with sorrow. "I was cursed… generations ago. Every princess in my bloodline is bound to the shadows—never fully human, never fully… alive." She released Liora, her eyes softening for the first time. "I didn’t want you to find out this way."
Liora’s mind raced. "So… you're not human?"
Elara gave a sad smile. "Not entirely. I walk between two worlds. The court doesn't know. Not even Kael." Her gaze turned desperate. "But you… you’ve seen what I am. You could help me break the curse."
Liora took a step back, trying to process the revelation. "How could I possibly help you?"
Elara’s voice dropped to a whisper. "Because the curse can only be broken by someone… who knows the true meaning of loyalty. Someone like you."
Torn between fear and the strange pull she felt toward the princess, Liora hesitated. "What do I need to do?"
Elara’s eyes darkened. "There’s a secret ritual. But it comes with a price. You’ll be bound to me forever." She stepped closer, her breath cold against Liora’s skin. "Together, we could end the curse… and free me from this prison of shadow. But once you step into this world, there’s no turning back."
Liora’s heart pounded in her chest. The life she knew—the simple, invisible existence of a servant—could be over. She could help Elara, and in doing so, uncover powers and truths she never imagined. But the cost was high, and the world Elara was offering was dark, full of shadows and danger.
For a long moment, the two stood in silence, the weight of the choice hanging in the air.
Finally, Liora spoke, her voice steady. "I’ll do it."
Elara’s smile was both relieved and haunting. "Then prepare yourself. Once the blood moon rises, we begin."
As the days passed, Liora found herself drawn deeper into Elara’s world—a world of forbidden magic, ancient secrets, and hidden desires. But as the ritual approached and the lines between servant and princess blurred, Liora began to wonder: was she truly helping Elara break the curse, or was she falling into a trap of her own making?
