Remember the One Who Planted the Tree

In a small village nestled among lush green fields, there lived a boy named Nam with his parents in a modest house. The family wasn’t wealthy, but they lived harmoniously and loved one another deeply. Nam’s father, Mr. Hung, was a diligent gardener. He grew various fruits in their small garden to ensure the family had enough food. Nam’s mother, Mrs. Lan, took care of the family and cooked delicious meals from the produce of the garden.

Every day, Nam and his parents worked together in the garden. Nam learned from his father that to enjoy sweet fruits, one must care for and work hard on the plants. The boy often helped his father prune branches, water the plants, and weed the garden.

One summer, Mr. Hung’s garden was heavy with ripe fruits. Nam was especially delighted when the mangoes turned golden. He and his family often picked the fresh mangoes to eat, and the taste of these mangoes made Nam very happy.

One day, while Nam was enjoying the sweet mangoes with his friends, one of them asked:

- “These mangoes are wonderful! Do you know who grew them?”

Nam smiled and replied:

- “Of course. It was my father’s hard work. He has spent many years caring for each tree to produce such delicious fruits.”

Nam’s friend was surprised and said:

- “Then you should thank your father very much!”

Nam nodded in agreement. He not only thanked his father but also learned an important lesson from him: always be grateful and appreciative of those who have helped and contributed to your life.

When he returned home, Nam made a small gift himself and gave it to his parents. He wrote a heartfelt letter thanking his father for planting and caring for the trees and his mother for preparing delicious meals from the garden’s produce. Nam’s family was very pleased and touched by his gratitude.

The story of Nam and his family spread throughout the village, and everyone remembered the proverb: “Remember the one who planted the tree.” It became not just a lesson in gratitude but also a reminder that the rewards we enjoy are not only the result of our own efforts but also the contributions and sacrifices of others.

This proverb became an important part of the villagers’ lives, reminding them to always be thankful and appreciate those who have helped them, whether in their work or daily life.
