Books have opened the world for me and beyond it, since the very first time I started to read. It turned out that I learnt a superpower a superpower of reading that is capable of opening doors to infinite realms, countless lives and boundless wisdom. I am not bound by time, or space, or even my life anymore when I open a book. Each page expands my mind, expands my empathy, expands my imagination. Reading has empowered me in ways I never would have guessed, allowing myself the ability to access knowledge and perspectives of beings far beyond my own.

Each book has its own magic: the ability to take me to new places, teach me about other perspectives, and to share with me the lives of people I might never meet. I have traveled all throughout ancient Egypt, sailed the seas with rowdy pirates, and climbed skyscrapers embedded in the sky all thanks to reading.

I've walked beside the heroes, the villains, and through their successes, their failures and everything in between. Every new insight, perspective, or emotion that each story or character brings to me, contributes to the way I perceive the world. It allows me to even step outside of myself and see how the world looks through a million eyes.

However, adventure is not the only thing. Through my sonnetia and five pages of center of academia my path reaches the beginning of the end. The human condition, in its beauty, complexity, and paradox, is better reflected in every story. I hear stories of human perseverance in adversity, courage to defend your beliefs and the gentle power of kindness. In reading I find out who I want to be and what I want to stand for. Characters who stand up to their fears, who take a long hard look at their flaws and weaknesses and who fight back in the end those are the ones I relate to. Every single lesson, no matter how seemingly innocent, molds me, strives to turn me into the best me.

One of the wonders of reading, though, is that it keeps on giving. I could read a billion books and still, there is more to learn, more to fathom, more ways to stretch the boundaries of one’s mind. Whenever I open a book I know, even if I would not show it very clearly, that it is restarting a journey in me, and after that I will not be the same. Be it a novel, a biography, or a science journal, all the books inside feed my mind and keep it active and free.

By reading, I discovered that there is essentially no ceiling to the knowledge we could obtain or the places we could travel mentally. Where so much else feels debatable, reading is what frees me and makes me feel powerful and alive like nothing else. A gift that keeps on giving, never running out, giving access to the world and to myself beyond borders.

So, I flip each page reminded that reading really is a superpower, one that empowers my mind and incites my imagination. It is a gift I take everywhere with me that deepens life, expands color, and makes everything more beautiful and full of options.
