"Twisted" is an enemies to lovers novel written by Emily McIntire about Yasmin and Julien who agree to marry to grant Yasmin's father's dying wish...and other reasons.

I enjoyed this book. It's not perfect but tells a thought provoking story. It's an odd thing to admit but I didn't particularly like any of the characters. However, I did want to yell at almost every character in the story, at least once if not multiple times; and I love that kind of engagement. These characters were developed well. And in the back of the book the author even included character profiles, which were greatly appreciated.

My biggest critique of the book is that it didn't push enough of my boundaries and morals. My hope is that authors feel able to freely push a story beyond what we may generally feel is "ok". This would have been a perfect book to see characters, and the story, develop with no limits. Yes, the story pushed but not remotely far enough.

Apparently this book was a fairytale reimagined. However, I wasn't aware of that until I read the reviews after reading. This book would have been better described without that. Yes, there were instances of the story of Aladdin but not enough that I even thought of it. I just thought there were odd details that either I liked or went over my head.

Although, I would not recommend this as a reimagined fairytale. I would add this, not high on it, to my recommended reading list.
