'Managerial Epidemiology' Concepts and Cases in the Second edition written by Steven T. Fleming is a hardback textbook that could be used alongside with 'Introduction to Epidemiology' or as a standalone textbook for a separate course. Steven T. Fleming wrote this textbook to illustrate the business and economic side to the subject of epidemiology. Steven T. Fleming is a very knowledgeable author in this field for throughout the text he is offering his insight with other writers and contributors.

'Managerial Epidemiology' Concepts and Cases is well-formatted for he starts each chapter with a famous quote that fits well with the subject of the chapter. There are case studies presented with questions and answers that give examples of what is explained in the chapters through each chapter of the book. This is a book that discusses the 'economics' not just the money aspects, but also how various societies handle the various issues and problems of epidemics, pandemics, and outbreaks of disease. In my opinion, this textbook could also be used by social workers and counselors when the need may arise.

The typeface of the book was of medium type for easier reading than the fine type that was presented in another textbook that I read and reviewed. One thing that I found difficult was that the case studies were shaded in gray, and if one was tired would have maybe a hard time reading these over, but they were still somewhat easy to read if wide awake. There are charts and graphs for several of the chapters to illustrate the material presented. This is a good textbook that could be used by other professions as well as undergraduate and graduate programs that deal with forming a needs assessment in various areas. This is quite an interesting textbook even just to read and to get ideas for more solutions or research projects.

In the next textbook review where I reviewed 'Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare (A Guide for Best Practice) that was created by several authors and editors by the names Bernadette Mazurek-Melnyk and Ellen Fineout-Overbolt and this is the third edition. This is a textbook that shows and explains how to present to staff, nurses, and physicians all about how evidence-based practice will improve nursing and medical care. This textbook covers how to do research in developing evidence=based practice in various academic and practical areas. These two authors organized this textbook using the form of successive steps 0 - 6 that means getting from your basic idea or topic to forming your objectives, questions, and learning all the meanings of evidence.

Their textbook instills how to develop what is known as the PICOT question and take information from that question or mixed research and form all information into a poster, paper, or another form of presentation. Throughout the textbook there are many summarizing charts that explain what each chapter is teaching. This paperback textbook uses a very fine print typeface on glossy pages for this at times makes it hard to read if the reader is tired, but if awake it is somewhat easy to read. In learning to do research one must learn and get used to reading passages that repeat materials that need clarified in a different way for the facts for better understanding in doing nursing research and writing an article, paper or a poster or podium presentation. There are charts and flowcharts throughout the book to also illustrate various ideas. In my opinion there is no offensive language or controversial material used. There is a full glossary to define all the necessary terms dealing with this subject. There is also at the end of each section of the book what a project to a certain part should look like completed in so many ways. Also, throughout this book the authors have used famous quotations from famous people to describe what the topic is about.
