Love is in the air: I decided to see what this Valentine's Sweetheart tag was all about!

POV of a non-romance reader answering a tag meant for romance readers 😂

Love is in the air (yes it is a bit past Valentine's but I am sure you can forgive me for being a little late)! In celebration of Valentine's Day (the celebration of love) I have decided it a fun idea to combine many of my loves into one fun game.

What are the things I am referring to as my loves (read: passions/hobbies)?

and of course,

  • Books

Then it hit me, oh a book tag centered on the holiday!

As I was falling down a rabbit hole leading to nowhere instead of Wonderland, I found the little door that led to where I was actually trying to go. And what I found behind that door was the most perfect thing, the Valentine's Sweetheart Tag.

In particular this one video (linked underneath this sentence) by the amazing and acclaimed booktuber Heather from Bookables!

Now to the questions!

1) What is your favorite Valentine's Day themed candy?

Easy! Anything chocolate. However, I also said this in my video, I would love to receive the cliche heart shaped hard candies with the messages on them.

2) Do you enjoy reading romance?

To give my most honest answer and opinion as of now towards this genre, I will leave it at it depends.

This may seem as a cop out but it is the legit truth. I have read romance books that make me want to tear my hair out and others that I was gushing over every single little thing the main couple was doing.

Granted, I have not read a vast array of books that were sold as romance.

I lean more toward fantasy, murder mystery, and sci-fi. Yet there are couples and romance undertones throughout.

All of that to circle back around and explain 'it all depends'.

3) Do you tend to read romance around the holidays?

Nope. Not a romance reader in regular life. Why would I be in my holiday life?

4) If your fictional sweetheart shows up at your door with a Valentine's Day gift, what would it be?

First off, we are establishing the fictional sweetheart as George Weasley.

My favorite hair year of theirs. And everyone else'e lets be honest.

Second, in answer to the actual question, I want to just spend an awesome day in the wizarding world. Being there with him would absolutely be all the gift I need.

I do have a whole ideal day in my head but that will come up in another question so put a pin in that and we will come back to it.

5) How many romance books do you have written by the same author?

Don't read romance or pick up books in that vein, therefore, there is no risk of repeat authors on the shelves.

6) What is a romance book that made you cry?

I don't think there has been one that reduced me to tears, happy or sad.

7) Name a place real or fictional to escape to for Valentine's Day with your fictional sweetheart.

To unpin the topic started in Question 4-

Ideally, we would start our day with a nice coffee from a cute cafe. We would then get our brooms and apparate outside of Hogwarts grounds- not in Hogsmeade more like the Forbidden Forest. Potentially run into Buckbeak and make sure he got a nice little treat to celebrate the day as well.

We would then fly over the school grounds, around the castle spires- George would probably regale me with the story of how he and Fred had successfully gotten themselves expelled (not really, but we are being more dramatic with the storytelling) from Hogwarts by lighting up fireworks inside the Great Hall while other students were taking their tests.

We would laugh at that and then take off for a lap around the Quidditch Pitch.

(or five- we are both competitive okay)

Then we would stroll down the castle steps towards Hogsmeade. While there, George would show me around to all of his favorite places and I would beg him to tell me more stories of his time at Hogwarts, knowing there would be no shortage.

Somewhere in between a story or after we would head somewhere to get an infamous butterbeer beverage.

Last outside stop of the day would be to go to Diagon Alley.

Of course we would go to all the iconic shops: Ollivander's Wand Shop, Flourish and Blotts, and last but certainly not least-

Weasley's Wizard Wheezes!

I would ask for a behind the scenes tour of the shop, the ideas that were made into reality and the ones that weren't, and would ask for an inside scoop on new products. At the least, just to be in the shop and absorb the atmosphere!

After a fun and exciting day, we would then head back to the Burrow for a family dinner party to celebrate the holiday!

8) Distance makes the heart grow fonder, name an anticipated release you know you will love.

The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner!

9) Any favorite love-themed quotes from a book you have read?

"History huh?"

-Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

10) All is fair in love and war, find all the books you can with red and pink covered spines. Show them.

Well folks that is a wrap! I had so much fun with this tag and I hope whoever wants to take on this tag as well has fun too! Please feel free to play along!

That is all for now but I will be seeing you all soon with more bookish shenanigans!
