Meet the Characters

First, we have Samantha. She’s smart, funny, and works in marketing (that means she helps companies sell things in a fun way).

Samantha is kind but also has a big job to do — she has to take care of her mom who is very sick and forgets things because of a problem called dementia.

Then we have Xavier. He’s a veterinarian, which means he’s a doctor for animals. Xavier is a little quiet at first, but he’s kind and really loves helping animals.

He also has some sad things from his past that make it hard for him to open up.

How They Meet

One day, Samantha brings a tiny, rescued kitten to Xavier’s animal clinic. That’s how they meet!

At first, things are a little awkward between them. But then, they start to like each other.

They go on a date, talk a lot, and feel happy when they are together.

But here's the problem — Samantha has to move far away to California to help her mom. So now, they have to try a long-distance relationship. That means they love each other but can’t see each other all the time.

That’s not easy!

What’s the Story Really About?

Yes, it’s a love story, but it’s also about family, sacrifices, and growing up.

Samantha doesn’t just think about herself — she puts her mom first. That’s not easy, and sometimes she feels tired and worried. Xavier also tries to be strong even when he’s scared inside.

He wants to love Samantha, but he’s also scared he’ll mess things up.

They both have to learn how to trust, talk honestly, and be there for each other — even when life is messy.

Why This Book Feels Real

The cool thing about this book is that it feels like it could happen in real life. People get sick, families need help, and sometimes love is hard.

But the book also shows us that it’s okay to feel all kinds of emotions — happy, sad, angry, confused — and that love is worth fighting for.

There are some funny moments too, especially when the characters tease each other or talk about their pets.

That makes the story feel more fun and real.

What I Liked

- Samantha is super strong. She takes care of her mom even when she feels like crying. That’s real bravery.

- Xavier loves animals. I mean, who doesn’t love a guy who takes care of kittens?

- Their love feels honest. Not like fairy tales, but like how real people love each other — with ups and downs.

What Could Be Better

Sometimes, the book uses grown-up words or things that kids might not understand, like long work meetings or adult jokes.

But that’s okay — the heart of the story is still easy to get.

Final Thoughts

Say You’ll Remember Me is a sweet story about two people trying their best to stay in love while also doing what’s right for their families and themselves.

It teaches us that love takes work, and sometimes, it means letting go for a little while to come back even stronger.
