The Struggle of Trying to Adult
Laughing Through the Tears

Let's face it: adulting is hard. Sure, we were all eager to grow up when we were younger, dreaming of the day when we could do whatever we wanted and be in charge of our own lives. But now that we're here, we realize that being an adult is not all it's cracked up to be. Here are a few examples of the struggles we face on a daily basis:
Trying to cook a decent meal: Remember when your parents used to whip up delicious meals every night? Now that you're on your own, you realize that cooking is not as easy as it looks. You burn things, undercook things, and end up ordering pizza more often than you'd like to admit.
It's not just the cooking part that's difficult; it's the planning, the shopping, the budgeting, and the cleaning up afterwards. And let's not forget about the pressure to eat healthy and impress our friends with our culinary skills. We spend hours scouring Pinterest for recipes and watching cooking shows, but when it comes down to actually making a meal, we often fall short.
Figuring out finances: Why didn't they teach us about taxes and credit scores in school? Managing money is one of the most daunting tasks we face as adults, and it's easy to get overwhelmed by bills, loans, and unexpected expenses.
We're expected to know how to budget, save, invest, and plan for retirement, but many of us never received any formal education on these topics. We try to figure it out on our own, but there's always something we're forgetting or something that throws us off track. And when an unexpected expense pops up (like a car repair or medical bill), it can throw our entire budget out of whack.
Dealing with health issues: As we get older, our bodies start to betray us in all sorts of ways. Suddenly, we have to worry about things like back pain, wrinkles, and gray hairs. And don't even get us started on the joys of annual physical exams.
It's not just the physical health issues that can be overwhelming; it's the mental health issues too. We're expected to manage our stress, anxiety, and depression while also juggling work, relationships, and other responsibilities. And let's not forget about the stigma that still surrounds mental health; many of us feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help when we need it.
Navigating social situations: Remember when making friends was easy? Now, it feels like everyone else has their own cliques and inside jokes, and you're left on the sidelines trying to make small talk. And dating? Let's not even go there.
Making friends as an adult is a whole different ballgame than it was in high school or college. We have to put ourselves out there, attend social events, and be vulnerable in order to make connections. And when it comes to dating, we have to contend with apps, ghosting, and the pressure to find "the one" before our biological clocks run out.
Coping with stress: Whether it's work, relationships, or just the general state of the world, there's always something to stress about as an adult. We try to cope with yoga, meditation, and self-care, but sometimes a glass of wine and a Netflix binge session are the only things that can get us through.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious when there are so many demands on our time and attention. We're expected to be productive, successful, and happy all at the same time, and it can be hard to know how to prioritize our own well-being.
Despite all these struggles, though, there are still moments of joy and triumph in adulthood. Like when you finally master a new recipe, or when you get a promotion at work, or when you
