Hi, Matildas… we all use tea tree oil or have at least heard about it. Have you ever questioned the fact about tea tree oil being such a hyped product? Like what exactly is tea tree oil and how it actually impacts your skin. I know everyone has ideas about what it is but in this article let’s understand some key points about the benefits of uses of tea tree oil.

What is Tea Tree Oil?

Tea tree oil also known as melaleuca oil is an essential oil with a fresh camphoraceous odour. The colour can vary from colourless to pale yellow. As per the background study- this tree was named by 18th-century sailors. It is derived from the leaves of the tea tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, native to southeast Queensland and the northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. And it is totally different from “The Tea Plant” that is used for making teas..!

What is Tea Tree Oil used for?

Tea tree has proved its potency over acne, ocular demodicosis, onychomycosis, Tinea pedis. The chemicals in tea tree oil can kill bacteria fungus and decrease skin allergies. Several other uses have also been recorded but not much evidence is found related to them.

Issues that can be treated using Tea Tree Oil:

  1. Seborrheic Dermatitis: It’s a condition where the scalp hair becomes dry are dry patches occur on your scalp. this can be treated with the help of tea tree oil. How To Use: Mix tea tree oil with any other oil like coconut or olive oil and apply it on the scalp and keep it for 10-15 minutes. Then wash it off as usual.
  2. Dandruff: Reasons for dandruff can be different for everybody like oily skin, bad hygiene, fungal infections. Tea tree oil contains anti-fungal properties. How To Use: Add 10-15 drops of tea tree oil along with every ounce of shampoo and massage your scalp. Let it rest for 3-5mits and wash it afterwards.

Facial Treatment using Tea Tree Oil

  1. Moisturizer: a good moisturizer is one of the most basic and important steps towards healthier and glowing skin. this might come as a surprise but it is where most people go wrong. Tea Tree Oil along with your regular moisturizer can increase its ability and help fight the acne in your skin. as for additional carrier, you can use moisturizers like coconut oil, almond oil, or aloe vera gel and it will increase the efficiency of tea tree oil over fighting acne. Add a drop of tea tree oil to one punch of moisturizer.
  2. Acne-Fighting: matildas, if you know you know, toner is a very important step in your skincare routine. There are several toners in the market that involve strong components. I personally say this to you matildas use as many mild products as you can. add 25 ml rose water to a bottle and then mix in 10 drops of tea tree essential. You can also use this toner as a face mist.
  3. Facial Oil: choose a type of oil that suits your skin then mix it with tea tree oil and make your own face oil. Mix 16 drops of tea tree oil with 10 ml of carrier oil and use it daily as a moisturizer.
