The first time I saw you
Couples crowded tables cawing away
Paper cupids flew around firing
30 speed dates and I was exhausted
The sticky-sweet food
and loud colors
ringing in my mind.
But then
you came in
and my breath stopped
I didn't move
I couldn't do anything about
my eyes bulging
my mouth maybe opening
Someone help this lady,
she's having a heart attack!
It was only later I could think
There is nothing quite like love
To know that people in totally foreign
lands and times
felt exactly the same way
The same stop
Love is an eternal pause
