Skincare guide:1
Suffering with skin issues? Seeing random skincare products everywhere then getting overwhelmed when trying to buy them? This is the complete guide to starting your skincare routine and getting it to solve all your concerns.
STEP 1:DETERMINE YOUR SKINTYPE
oily- you step out of the house, its very cold and you still notice your face feeling greasy? that’s a sign that you have oily skin. Of course, people with oily skin can have it in all weathers, make sure to monitor your skin and how it feels
dry-this, like oily skin is fairly straightforward.Does your skin flake often? Do your lips feel dry 24/7 that’s all signs that you have dry skin
combination/normal- you may notice that some parts of your face are oily and some are dry, this just means that you would have to buy seperate products for those seperate areas of your face. you may also notice that you share none of these concerns. In that case, you have normal skin and you can look out for products that are labelled as such
STEP 2:ORDER OF THE ROUTINE
1- cleanser.(necessary)(day+night)
Everyone needs a clean face.Make sure to refer back to step one to buy the correct cleanser for your skin type.
2- cleanser no.2(optional)(night)
this is to remove any makeup and sunscreen built up on your face as normal cleansers usually do not remove all. For this, it is best to use something oil based.
3-toner(optional)(day +night)
A toner can contain a variety of ingredients from hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid( find out what these ingrediants mean on my next post)and many others. Usally toners are used to add extra hydration to the face but nowadays, toners can be used for a variety of different uses, to even out skin tone or even dry out acne. This is a completely optional step and one that most people can skip
4-serum(optional)(day+night)
This is the part most people consider the actual part of skincare. we are usually spoilt for choice when we go to stores to try these out so make sure you pick the correct serum as not all ingredients pair well together and some serums combined can leave your skin worse off than it already is. So make sure to read my guide to choosing the right serums
5-moisturiser(necessary)(day+night)
I have to break the news for oily skin people, you must still use moisturiser regardless of how oily your skin is. when your skin is already hydrated, this prevents the overproduction of oil. So over time, your oil production decreases and your skin can go back to normal. Thankfully, gel moisturisers exist for just this reason. They are very lightweight and usually feel like just water on your skin. For people with dry skin, make sure to use deeply hydrationg rich moisturisers to hydrate your skin best
6-SUNSCREEN(NECESSARY)(DAYTIME )
your whole skincare routine can be completely useless if you don’t use sunscreen. It is the single most important thing in your routine and protects you from cancer and skin damage.Make sure you apply two fingers length of any sunscreen of your preference rain or shine, every two hours and even if you are indoors. Thankfully, spray sunscreens exist for easy reapplication wherever you are.
STEP3- IDENTIFY YOUR SKIN CONCERNS
are you trying to get rid of acne? Under eye bags? Get a more even skin tone? trying to reverse ageing? Make sure to buy products which market themselves as the cure to your personal skin concern and try to target one concern at a time.(view my guide on how to pick the correct products for your skin concern to know more)
STEP 4- SHOPPING
Now you know what products to buy, go shop! You would see that there are two main types of places to buy skincare. Drugstore and high end. Choose whatever suits your budget and shop there.(make sure to view my guide on what products to save and to splurge on)
STEP 5-PATIENCE
Now that you have everything you need, make sure you use these products consistently and progress may take a few days, months or even years to see the full results. But do not give up. However, skincare usually does have a rough timeline of 2 months to see any kind of resulto so, by that time if you have yet to see any improvements it probably best to switch to another product.
thank you for taking the time to read this, if you have any other concerns please feel free to comment and i would either answer with a comment or a post to fully help your skincare needs. Have fun!
