Review: Supergoop! SPF

Like Lizzo says in her song Water Me, “It’s hot. I think I wanna kick off both of my socks.”

The warmth of the summer can be quite uncomfortable. That should not prevent one from wearing at least one layer: sunscreen. The best sunscreen is affordable, blocks harmful rays, does not clog pores, and is non-toxic to the environment.

About the Brand

Supergoop! products are reef-safe, will not clog pores, and only have a light fragrance (if any). Their products are vegan and cruelty-free. This brand has the intention of selling sunscreen for every skin type made for daily usage. Supergoop! has over 40 sunscreens on its website.

Today, I will be reviewing the Supergoop! Jet Set SPF travel kit. This kit includes three products: a mist, an everyday lotion, and a gel-like sunscreen. All the products are broad-spectrum sunscreen, water-resistant, and sweat-resistant. I wanted to share my thoughts on each product.

Wear Sunscreen Daily

There is an incentive to wearing SPF every day. It really helps protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, even on cloudy days. Healthier skin will respond better to a skincare routine, make the makeup application smoother, and will show fewer anti-aging effects.

Defense Refresh Re-Setting Mist SPF 40

This sunscreen comes in an aerosol container as a makeup setting spray when you need a quick application.

This product had to be my least favorite way to apply sunscreen out of the trio. I felt as if the spray bottle itself limited the distance of the product once sprayed. This is a good 2-in-1 product for beauty lovers and is also an easy way for people to apply and wear sunscreen daily. But, this spray felt light, thin, and left a dry film over my skin.

Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

According to the Supergoop! website, “for three years and counting, Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 has been the go-to clear SPF for everyone, everywhere.”

Although the gel-like formula is light, I found it to be moisturizing and hydrated my skin. This product can also double as a primer under your makeup for everyday wear. It is weightless, has no scent, and is a product I would buy again. The Unseen Sunscreen is my favorite product out of the Jet Set collection.

PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 with Sunflower Extract

The everyday lotion in the PLAY collection is another best-seller. This product smells great and is not too heavy to use all over your body. This product absorbs well into the skin and is a perfect everyday sunscreen for outdoor activities. The sunflower extract scent is pleasant without being overwhelming.

I used this sunscreen for a day at the beach, and I must say this product felt like it was protecting my skin better than any other sunscreen. I would consider purchasing this product again, too.

Overall Thoughts

Supergoop's mission is to stop the epidemic of skin cancer by encouraging people to wear sunscreen daily. Aside from their online shop, their website is a resource guide about sun exposure and skin protection.

The Jet Set collection includes three of their best-selling products and provides a good array of choices for all skin types. Here are my preferences respectively: Unseen Sunscreen, PLAY Everyday Lotion, and the Defense Refresh spray.
