Let’s Talk About It:
How intimate area skincare shouldn’t be an embarrassing topic

Intimate skin problems are very common and can be distressing and embarrassing. These issues can interfere with a woman’s self-image and interpersonal relationships. Studies have shown that intimate area hyperpigmentation is seen equally in men and women. The genitals have an increased number of melanocytes, the cells that produce the skin pigment melanin. Hormones and factors such as friction can contribute to skin darkening. While these issues are common, it is not common for women to talk about them even amongst themselves. Darkening of the skin of the intimate area is nothing to be ashamed of. One woman looking to create a comfortable environment for women to speak freely about these issues is beauty expert and esthetician, Jamie Gill.
Jamie has created a comfortable environment for women to express their intimate skin concerns and receive quality treatments catered to their needs. Jamie loves building strong client relationships while performing esthetician services. She strives to create a safe space for women who visit her salon. Her mission is to take the taboo out of waxing and educate women on the intimate skincare available to them.
Through her years of experience and success, Jamie discovered a market for professional sugar waxing and at-home aftercare products. Leaning on her expertise as an esthetician, Jamie started My Vikini to fulfill her mission of making women feel more confident in their skin. As leaders in the sugar waxing and vajacial industry, Jamie and the My Vikini team developed the Three-Step System: the first all-in-one solution that addresses every bikini area skin concern. She is proud to present a product that she loves and uses in her daily life.
To Jamie, salon services are like therapy. She understands that seeing improvements in your skin can boost your energy. She stands by My Vikini's before-and-after results and is proud to help others feel good about themselves by providing quality skin care services.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Jaimie recently to learn more about this topic and the services she offers.
•Tell us a little about yourself, the woman behind the brand.
Jamie: My name is Jamie and I was born and raised in Las Vegas. I am the second oldest of four. I love fine dining with friends and my husband. I love to travel and experience different cultures. I love shopping, reading self help books and watching cartoons in my spare time.
•It’s Women’s History Month. Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
Jamie: A woman that inspires me is a YouTuber named Alliyahface. She is close in age with a similar background. She used to be a makeup artist now she is a very successful YouTuber. You can see her growth over the years and what it looks like when you make a decision to commit to your bettering you life. Her work ethic, poise, intelligence, independence and sincerity are all characteristic that I strive to posses on a daily basis. Seeing a woman similar to myself succeed at a young age while staying true to herself, inspires me to never give up.
•What was the inspiration behind starting your brand?
Jamie: The inspiration behind starting My Vikini is women. As a woman I understand the challenges we face, how much we persevere and the societal pressure we face. I’ve always been in the business of helping women feel more confident, it’s always been so fulfilling for me. I’ve always wanted to have a product that added value to others but I did not know what that looked like. When I began sugar waxing I noticed a common problem women were dealing with, they had some sort of skin concern that made them feel self conscious. I’ve always wanted to deliver my clients great results and this is when I began doing a lot of research to make sure I could do just that, which is how the Three-Step System went on to be created.
