From Survival to Sanctuary: How Rebecca Davis Built Platinum Wellness Spa Into a Georgia Wellness Powerhouse
Inspirational Women

Rebecca Davis's journey does not follow a neat or predictable arc. It pulses instead , marked by resilience, reinvention and moments that demanded courage long before comfort arrived. At 53, Davis is the CEO and founder of Platinum Wellness Spa in Conyers, Georgia, one of the region's fastest-growing wellness destinations. But the serenity her brand now represents was forged through years of upheaval, risk and unshakable determination.
Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Davis grew up in an environment where Black families were scarcely represented. Race was not something she was forced to confront daily , until her senior year of high school, when she relocated to Richmond, Virginia. The move from a community that was less than 1% Black to a city deeply intertwined with Confederate history marked a turning point. For the first time, Davis became acutely aware of how identity, history and perception intersected. That awakening would quietly inform how she later approached leadership, inclusion and healing.
After graduating high school, Davis enrolled at James Madison University with hopes of building a future grounded in higher education. Financial barriers, however, quickly disrupted those plans. With no means to continue, she left school and soon entered motherhood. At 22, she welcomed her first daughter, Maiesha, and found herself navigating life as a young single parent while enduring a relationship shadowed by domestic violence.
When survival demanded a decision, Davis chose herself and her child. She packed up what she could and moved to Georgia in search of safety, stability and a fresh start.
That move became the foundation of everything that followed.
Living with her cousin, a successful attorney rebuilding her own life after divorce, Davis found space to reset. She enrolled at Gwinnett College of Business, earned a medical assisting certification and began working in physicians' offices. For more than a decade, she gained firsthand experience in healthcare environments while expanding her family, welcoming two more children, Mykela and Michael.
Professionally, she was sharpening skills. Personally, she was discovering her power.

In 2003, Davis met Don Davis, whose background as a neurosurgeon's physician assistant and later entrepreneur aligned seamlessly with her vision and work ethic. Together, they launched a non-emergency medical transportation company from the ground up. Starting with no vehicles, they scaled the operation to a fleet of 22 serving the entire state of Georgia. Their success culminated in semi-retirement as millionaires in 2018.
The pause was brief.
Just three weeks into retirement, Davis felt restless , not because she lacked peace, but because she was wired to build. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her husband opened a mechanic shop in Conyers. The business took off quickly, but staffing challenges soon forced another pivot. Around the same time, they purchased a building on Parker Road , a decision that would ultimately define Davis's legacy.
She envisioned more than a spa. She imagined a refuge.
The building was gutted down to its bones. What was supposed to be a four-month renovation stretched into a year and a half. Delays tested patience, finances and faith. Still, Davis persisted. In December 2022, Platinum Beauty Bar & Spa officially opened its doors.
The early days were quiet. Some mornings, the team prayed simply for foot traffic. Then momentum shifted. Social media buzz exploded, and the spa went viral. Appointments filled. Demand surged. What began as hopeful ambition transformed almost overnight into sustainable success.
Davis made another decisive move , selling the mechanic shop and closing the gym she also owned to focus entirely on the spa. In 2024, the business was rebranded as Platinum Wellness Spa, reflecting its evolution into a comprehensive wellness retreat.

Today, the spa employs 25 professionals, including technicians, concierge staff and a marketing team. Services extend beyond aesthetics, centering holistic care for mind, body and spirit. For Davis, wellness is not indulgence , it is infrastructure for living.
Expansion is already underway. A restaurant is being developed on-site. A pool is scheduled to open next summer. Davis is also eyeing the adjacent lot for future growth, with community at the heart of every decision.
Her mission is clear: to serve people who carry invisible weight , women, Black communities, caregivers, leaders and anyone navigating life without adequate space to rest.
Platinum Wellness Spa is more than a business venture. It is the embodiment of survival turned into sanctuary. Every wall reflects lessons learned, every service honors rest as a right, not a reward.
For Rebecca Davis, wellness is not the end of the journey. It is the offering, and the invitation, to heal out loud.
