Elevator love

Love at first sight

By Amna salmanPublished 3 years ago 3 min read
The first night together

Hannah had always been a firm believer in love at first sight. The moment she met Tom in the elevator of their office building, she was sure he was the one for her. Tom, however, seemed to be completely oblivious to Hannah's feelings, and even worse... he had a girlfriend.

Despite the fact that she knew it was a lost cause, Hannah couldn't resist the temptation to try and win Tom's heart. She cooked him elaborate breakfasts, brought him coffee every morning and even signed up for the same Pilates class as his girlfriend. But every attempt was met with the same nonchalant smile and polite thanks.

One day, as she was sitting at her desk, staring at Tom's profile on Facebook, a message from him popped up. She was ecstatic. Finally, Tom had realized that he needed her in his life. They exchanged a few messages, and he suggested they meet up for dinner that night.

Hannah spent the entire afternoon getting ready for their date. She tried on a dozen different outfits, put on too much makeup and even practiced her smile in the mirror. When she walked into the restaurant, Tom was already there, looking as handsome as ever. He stood up to greet her, and... introduced her to his girlfriend. Hannah was mortified. She swallowed her pride and forced a smile, trying to act as if she hadn't just been completely humiliated.

But Tom noticed. Over dinner, he kept sneaking glances at her, and she became convinced that he was finally seeing her in a different light. When they finished eating, Tom suggested they go for a walk. He led her to a nearby park, and they started walking around the pond.

And then, completely out of the blue, Tom kissed Hannah. She was caught off guard, but quickly melted into his embrace. For a few moments, it felt like the world had disappeared, leaving only them.

When they broke the kiss, Tom looked at her with a mix of fear and hope in his eyes. "Hannah, I need to tell you something," he whispered.

Hannah had a bad feeling in her stomach. She feared the worst. Had he been playing with her all this time? Was he going to tell her that he couldn't stand the sight of her anymore? She braced herself for the worst.

"I'm breaking up with my girlfriend," Tom said.

Hannah was stunned. She wasn't prepared for that. "What?! Why?" she asked.

Tom sighed. "I've been unhappy in our relationship for a while now. I thought I could ignore it and just keep going on like this, but then I met you..."

For the first time in her life, Hannah didn't know what to say. Should she be happy that he was finally breaking up with his girlfriend or upset that he only saw her as a rebound?

Tom took her hand. "I know how this must look, Hannah. Timing is terrible, and I'm not sure what the future holds for us, but I had to take this chance. I hope you can forgive me."

Hannah smiled weakly. "It's okay, Tom. I'm just... surprised. What happens now?"

"I don't know, but let's take it slow, okay? No need to rush things. Let's just see where this takes us," Tom said.

And that was all it took for Hannah to fall even deeper into love with him. They spent the rest of the night talking, walking, and kissing under the stars. As they said goodbye, Tom promised to call her tomorrow.

Days turned into weeks, and the two of them couldn't get enough of each other. They were inseparable, and it was clear to everyone around them that they were meant to be together. They went on dozens of dates, traveled together, and met each other's families.

It wasn't long before Tom proposed to Hannah, and she said yes without any hesitation. They got married in a beautiful ceremony on a beach in Hawaii, surrounded by their closest friends and family.

Years went by, and Tom and Hannah grew old together. They had their share of ups and downs, but through it all, their love never faded. They always found a way to renew the spark, keep the passion alive, and stay by each other's side. They were living the dream, the kind of dream that Hannah had been holding out for since the day she met Tom in the elevator.
